Fare Thee Well Seniors By: Shaimon Hodgins Co-Editor As our school year slowly winds down to a close, many of us ponder upon the memo ries we have accumulated throughout the year at Mon- treat-Anderson. Some may be quite good, but others nught not be so pleasant wWch only serves to show how we grow through loss. As a mid-year senior, I am struck by how sad a goodbye can be. Onemustunderstand that as a senior in college, those questions which have been looming for four years are suddenly right before your face. "What am I doing with my life?" "Where will 1 live?" "I have no idea how to cook" and "Will 1 ever find a job?" Sound familiar? 1 guess we each should consider how special seniors are to us. Ican'tpicture walk ing into McGregor and not seeing certain people there next year. The idea is foreign and alien and I don't like it a bit. Memories of doughnut at 5:00 a.m. after a fire drill and condom water ball will alwaysbewithme. 1 wonder what we will look like in 25 years when we show up for a Montreat-Anderson reunion and laugh at our gray hair. Will any of the drean« we express^ be fulfilled? I hope the idealistic illusions which we sought to uphold will not be tarnished. I hope the love that we have for each other will not be marred by time. 1 hope we each are healthy, happy, individuals. Too often we do not tell people we care about them and spend a lifetime regretting that we didn't show the love we feel. For seniors, this fact is clear. My friends, 1 am sad to see you go and will feel your absence very acutely. To all who finally get their diploma in May, Iwish you luck. I wish that all you dream you will do. 1 wish you determination, skill and hope. 1 wish you the love of God, He will carry you when you cannot walk any longer. I wish you faith, through that you will learn to crawl. And I hope, as life continues, that we each learn to run. He praised the College's educational perspective "emphasizing (Kristian val ues and a fine academic expe rience in a caring college community." Commenting on the appointment of Hurt, Silas Vaughn said, "I am pleased to be succeeded by a person with Bill's strengths in man agement, church relation ships and community serv ice. I sense that Mr. Hurt is the right man for Montreat- Anderson College at this time in its history, and 1 am sure that under his leadership the college can move confidently into the 21st century. The search committee did their job well." Montreat's new presi dent will be introduced to the faculty Wednesday after noon, April 17. During Chapel, Thursday, April 18, the student body will be in troduced to Mr. Hurt and fol lowing will be given an op portunity to talk with him at a reception in the Belk Cam pus Center. The Hurts will not begin residence in Mon treat until late June. Good ol' Boy Takes Charge Metfieia Wee/^y PuUi^iod waeMy by.ttM Student Activibes Committee ol ^oge, Morrireat, N.C. 28757. Born and raised in Prattville, Alabama, Reid has spent the last three years at M-AC. He says that what keeps him coming back to Montreat is the wonderful, caring faculty. Along with the beautiful sur roundings and friendly people. Reid feels that the best quality of Mon treat is its Christian aspect. If it wasn't for that, he says he wouldn't return. What are Reid's plans now Naj Alicea Upfront and Fetsonal that he is the SGA President, you might ask. He wants to get students more involved by trying to get fund raising off-campus to pay the stu dents on the SGA. He also wants to make SGA fun and open to all. He plans to do this by having a series of open forums where students can come and voice their opin ions to SGA. Most important, Reid thinks that the students and administration should work together, so he wants the administration to know the ideas of the Student Body as a whole. These are just a few of Reid's plans for SGA next year. This summer Reid will run Howerton Dorm as the RD for the summer confer ences. Before that though, he plans to go home and rest in Prattville. In the future Reid wants to have a career in the administrative end of the ministry or work in business administration.
