Tucked away in our
subconscious is an idyllic
vision. We see ourselves
on a long trip that spans
the continent. We are trav
eling by train. Out the
windows we drink in the
passing scene of cars on
nearby highways, of chil
dren waving at the cross
ing, of cattle grazing on a
distant hillside, of smoke
pouring from a power
plant, of row upon row of
corn and wheat, of flat-
lands- and valleys, of
mountainsandrolling hill
sides, of city skylines and
village halls.
But uppermost in
our minds is the final des
tination. On a certain day
at a certain hour we will
pull into the station. Bands
will be playing and flags
waving. Once we get there
so many wonderful
dreams will come true and

MONTREAT-ANDERSON
STUDENT AMBASSADORS
by Tara Paquette
This year Montreat-
Anderson College is start
ing a new organization
called tlie Student Ambas
sadors Association
(SAA.) It is a nationally
recognized club and many
colleges across the coun
try have their own chapter
of this association, includ
ing Duke, Wake Forest,
Florida State, Clemson,
and Columbia College.
The nationally recog
nized definition of the
SAA is “an active, student
organization having a
major leadership role on
campus, gaining valuable
experience in public rela
tions, projecting a posi
tive image of the college,
meeting community
pleted jigsaw puzzle. How
restlessly we pace the
aisles, damning the min
utes for loitering - wait
ing, waiting, waiting for
the station.
“Whenwereachthe
station, that will be it!”
we cry. "When I’m 18.”
"Whenl buy a new450 SL
Mercedes Benz!” "When
/ put the last kid through
college.” "When I have
paid off the mortgage!”
"When I get a promo
tion.” "When I reach the
age of retirement, I shall
live happily ever after!”
Sooner or later we
must realize there is no
station, no one place to
arrive at once and for all.
The true Joy of life is the
trip. The station is only a
dream. It constantly out
distances us.
"Relish the mo
ment” is a good motto,
especially when coupled
with Psalm 118:24:” This
is the day which the Lord
hath made; we will rejoice
and be glad in it.” It isn’t

and influencing the future
of the institution.”
The purpose of the
SAA is twofold. First, it
helps the students gain
educational experience as
well as strengthening their
public relations skills. Sec
ondly, it assists the col
lege by projecting a posi
tive influence on the sur
rounding community.
This chapter of the
SAA will be called the
Montreat-Anderson
Ambassadors. There will
be ten students involved;
five females and five
males. These students are:
