CAVALIER SrORTS
BUILDING VOLLEYBALL CONFIDENCE
by Anita Bumgarner
The Lady Cavalier’s
volleyball team continues
to show vast improvement
this year, as they have been
very competitive in all of
their matches so far. On
Wednesday, September
18th, the Lady Cavs com
peted in a tri-match with
Tusculum College and
Lees McRae College. Our
ladies showed a great team
effort against Tusculum
with excellent hustle and
a never say die attitude.
Becky Brown was cited as
having an outstanding
defensive game, and
Heather Jamerson had an
excellent offensive game
with some great blocking
efforts. After an all out
effort against Tusculum
the ladies were a little tired
against Lees McRae, but a
good effort was still put
forth. Our girls will face
Lees McRae once again in
Banner Elk and this time a
decisive victory against
them is the goal.
On September 21st,
our Lady Cavaliers de
feated Tomlinson Bible
for the second time this
season with set scores of
15-2, 15-3, and 16-14.
Coach Carol Fox com
mented that “It was a good
game for us in that we
could relax and work on
some aspects of our game
that we had been having
trouble with. It was a good
playing experience for the
younger players, and it will
help to build their confi
dence.”
Our volleyball team
has the opportunity to have
their best record in the past
six years, as their record
as of 9/23 stands at 4-4. As
the season continues on,
experience should bring
more victories to these
dedicated ladies.
Coach Fox sends out
the word to all you volley
ball fans that she and her
team appreciate the great
fan support at all of the
home games. This show
of school spirit is very
encouraging to the team,
and we look to see those
bleachers packed in the
upcoming games! Keep up
the good work ladies!

EDITORIAL
A NOTE FROM THE EDITOR ( qfte^ethda
by Paulette Mixon
It is Homecoming time
again, and many old M-
AC students will soon be
aniving. They will come
with the memories of their
college days at Montreat,
memories of friends and
fun times. They will come
to relive what we are liv
ing now. Homecoming
time makes me wonder
about the future, and the
Homecoming when I will
be a visitor to my old home.
I am sure I will miss the
late night study sessions
at Huddle House, hanging
out in Belk, talking until 3
a.m. with my friends, and
the many, many, other
great past times here at
Montreat.
This year. Homecom
ing will be even more
thrilling than it has been in
the past. Not only ai'e the
events to be exciting, but
the student body has
shown themselves to be
remarkably involved this
yeai'. There have been
overwhelming turnouts at
S.G.A. Legislative meet
ings, sports, and student
activities such as. Mount
Mitchell Day, the dances,
and the Lookoutcampfire.
I foresee the 1991-1992
yeai’ at Montreat-Ander-
son College to be an ex
plosion, blowing away all
previous years. So, let us
welcome our alumni and
help them not only to re
live old memories, but to
make new memories this
Homecoming weekend.
