Page 3 The Aletheia Behind the Scenes Steven Walker Student tuition, whether paid by the student or by financial aid, makes up for sixty-two percent of the total resources needed for the annual budget. So lot s dispel a common myth. It is not just the students who pay all the bills around here. Thirty-eight percent of the yearly operating costs come from monetary gifts to the school. There is one office of the college that handles all the donations. This office is also in charge of making sure that every thing that the media re ceives does not contradict the message of the college. This office is the Devel opment Office. It is their job to tell the media about the happenings at M-AC and to publicly thank those who have done a service to the school. TheDevelop- ^ also organizes a the organizations outside the college who help to spread the message of the college. Churches, alumni ^oups, friends of the College, the Board of T^rs, and the Church the ALETHEIA Editor: Anita E. College Council are some of the organizations involved. All these groups are working to spread the name and reputation of this college so that when we graduate and go looking for jobs people will have at least heard of M-AC. This type of publicity increases our chances of getting a job when we graduate. These groups are also playing a part in getting new students to come to school here through publi cizing the school at their churches and recommend ing the school to prospec tive students. Most of the people involved are eager to tell people who are looking for a college or university about M-AC. Through their coordi nating efforts the Develop ment Office, under the leadership of Everitt Vincent (Director of Devel opment), works very hard "...to become the finest and the best known liberal arts Christian College..." in the South Eastern United States. Besides Mr. Vincent there are six other people that work in the Develop ment Offices. They are Frances Casey, Irene "Tootie" Sullins, Ruth Kruer, Helen Dowling, Mindy Clinard, and Knox Bridges. Helen, Mindy and Knox are all graduates of Montreat. As Mr. Vincent puts it, the Development Office is "alumni heavy." So do not despair. There is at least one place a few of us might look for work. "Yea boy, I could dog a rabbit right now." Record Season Continued from page 2 playing time helped these young ladies become better players more quickly and they adjusted well to the collegiate level of basketball. This team pulled together and made the most of the talent they had, which is sure to be beneficial in the coming years. Recruiting for the 1992-1993 season is going extremely well, as Coach Bostic continues to bring in quality student-athletes who are sure to make strong contributions to the program and have a major impact. With the nucleus of the 1991-92 squad returning, and the addition of new players from winning high school programs, next year's edition of the Lady Cavaliers promises to be the best one yet!!! A special congratulations goes to Daphanie Bousum, for she became the second Lady Cavalier in two years to be named All- District in the N.C.C.A.A. Way to go Daph! The Lady Cavaliers move to the NAl A next season and will join the TV AC (Tennessee - Virginia Athletic Conference) along with the men's basketball team. So all you basketball fans, next season should really got you excited because all conference games will be doubleheaders- two games for the price of one! This new affiliation should also aid in getting our strong athletics program here at M-AC more well known. With our ladies basketball program growing more and more each year and fan support at an all-time high, the future looks nothing short of outstanding!!! A special thanks to all the great supporters of M-AC women's basketball, and even though the season's over, don't be too sad - September will be here before you know it!!! WAYTOGOLADYCAVS!!! Montreat-Anderson Basketball Action in the Bahamas Lady Cavs Continued from page 4 College. The Lady Cavs have lots of great memories, some of which include: braids in everyone's hair, which was very unique looking; an awesome shaving creme fight; sea sickness on the way to the Bahamas (thanks Alison "Dramamine" Swanger!); Dr. Lewis' terrific dancing abilities that had previously been unrevealed; taxi drivers who honk all the time and hate receiving change when you try to pay them (right Mindy "disgust ing change" Clinard?!); VERY MEMORABLE NIGHTS at the "S.W.C." Pub; going undefeated while facing two very tough teams; and finally, the closeness the team gained while on the trip. The Lady Cavaliers send their thanks to all those who helped support this trip, and are realy glad that two victories for Montreat were part of the great memories made.
