The Lady Cav’s are facing a great chal lenge, this year by entering into a new conference, the Tennessee Valley Athletic Conference. This confer ence is more demanding and compe tition is of a higher caliber. The girls are also being challenged by having an almost new team. The team only has four returning players. Seven freshman, three sophomores and one Junior make up this year's squad. Darin Chaplain is quoted as say ing “The girls will work hard, make tremendous improvements, and be competitive.” The Volleyball Team would appreciate everyone’s sup port and would like everyone to come and watch them play. rr SEPTEMBER SCHEDULE ACTIVITIES SCHEDULE TUESDAY September 8-14 THURSDAY SATURDAY 10AM Off-Campus Student 10AM Chapel with Richard 2PM Home Soccer vs. Blue- Meeting in Gaither Chapel White field 6PM Student Activities Meet- 9-11PM Open House in Davis 5PM Hawaiian Cookout at the ing In BCC Lounge and Howerton Hall Pavillion 9-11PM Open House in M-A Hall SUNDAY WEDNESDAY FRIDAY 9:45AM InterAct - BCC Lng. 7PM Vespers - McGregor 4:30PM Soccer Game at Tenn. 6:30PM Home Volleyball vs. Wesleyan Bryan MONDAY 7PM Prayer Meeting at the 8PM Little Man Tate BCC 6PM SGA Legislative - BCC Manse Mall 305 Sept. 5 Sept. 8 Sept. 10 Sept. 15 Sept. 17 Sept. 22 Sept. 26 Sept. 30 Lee College King College Bryan College Clinch Valley MilMgan Tusculum Clinch Valley King College 1:00 Away 6:30 Home 6:30 Home 6:30 Away 7:30 Away 6:30 Home 2:00 Home 6:30 Away Coming SeptemBer 19tfi MONTREAT SOCCER - CAV'S ROUT MILLIGAN 5-0 By Phil Parker Another season has officially begun for this year’s action of fast paced and bone-crushing Cavalier Soccer. With seven returning play ers consisting of Tommy Wallace, Rob Magee, Quent Johnson, Greg Starr, Jeff Wray, Erik Brown, and Aki Suzuki, the new recruits will also look to add depth and skill to the team. From the looks of their play against Brevard and last Wednes day’s scrimmage, the team is defi nitely competing at a higher caliber than their competition. The Cav’s dropped to Brevard late in the game 3-2 while holding a steady 1-0 lead through most of the game. Brevard is predicted to rank nationally this year and despite the loss the Cav’s made a grand entrance to prove to everyone that this year will be a landmark season. Coach Barrett backs the hype by saying that, “This is the best team Montreat- Anderson has ever had.” The players are areal close-knit fam ily with high hopes of victory through com mitment. Rob “Potsy” Magee says that “the skill is doubled form last year and the players seem to be more committed. We look ahead to a na tional title, but most importantly we play like a family; from the heart. and we always play to kick butt.” Looking forward to the competi tion, Coach Barrett thinks that the SEPTEMBER SOCCER the opponents should be much tougher, however, the Kicking Cav’s should do just that, come out kick ing.
