The Cafe was a vision that Montreat student JoeJDohmann and his wife Deb had in their hearts serving young adults through the Alpha course in Germany. They moved their family to the began working towards making that vision a reality. And now it is. On Friday, Feb. 4th, the Cafe of ficially opened to the public. Montreat students and Asheville locals flooded the place that night, and many students have continued to frequent it. So far, it seems to be a booming success. The cafe is geared for 18 to 25-year-olds, but it is also open to younger people and farnilies until 9 p.m. The logo you see above has real significance for the Creatures Cafe. It is based on a picture that Joe took in Switzerland. According to the website: “The sheep looks to- yiy unaw^e of the dangers around him. So many of us are like this sheep - lost and in a precarious situation, but totally unaware. The Shepherd longs for all of His sheep to come back to pasture and find peace and rest. As fellow sheep, we invite you to join Creatures Cafe camouflages itself as a typical nightclub, but beneath the surface, core Christian values and positive vibes are what drive the content and atmosphere of the club.“By virtue we follow the teachings of Jesus Christ, and like Jesus, we come with a message of love for our community,” says the website. “We want to explore life in a safe, fun, respectful and loving environment.” Creatures Cafe^is a non-profit ministry with the goal of providing a safe, alcohol- maybe even cut 1, respectful and loving environment.” s Cafe is a non-profit ministry with the goal of providing free environment for you^ adults to relax, connect with people, ana maype c a mean ri^ on the dance floor. And speaking of cutting a rug. Creatures Cafe will be regularly featuring local musicians on weekends. For a taste of what’s coming up soon, check out the calendar to the right. All of these performances are free to attend, but donations are strongly encouraged. Other ininistries connected with the cafe include the previously mentioned Alpha Course and a new program cmled Tough Topic Tuesday, or T3. The Alpha Course is a seven-week introduction to the Christian faith geared towards non-christians, new be lievers, and anyone who has questions about life, faith, or God. The T3 program will bring in speakers to spark good conversations about controversial topics ana tough issuj that plague students and young adults. c c ■ , c ^ y The opening or Crptures Care is exciting news for friends of the Dohmanns, as well as for anyone looking for a safe, clean place to unwind and have fun. The hours o^^peration for the cafe are 4pm-1130pm on Tuesday and Wednesday and 4pm-lam Thursday through Saturday. It will be closed on Sunday and Monday.
