Page 8, Foothills View, June 11, 1981 Representatives Of Several Firms To Participate In Small Business Seminar Foothills Area Church Directory BOIUNG springs, N.c.-Nine speakers are included in the agenda for a Small Business Seminar being held on the Garnder-Webb College campus on Wednesday and Thursday, June 10, 11. The seminar is designed for the public. Anyone seeking information on establishing a small business or anyone presently involved in a small business is Invited to attend the 7 p. m. sessions. During the two-day event, David Hatter and Donald- Heckerman, associated with the firm Ernst and Whlnney in Charlotte, will conduct a session on "Financing the Small Business. Mr. Hatter is a member of the firm’s new and special business department and is a graduate of VPI. Heckerman is a supervisor on the Arm’s Carolina Consulting staff. "Capital Formation and Retention” is the subject of Bill Starnes, vice-president of Hertlage Capital Corporation, a small business investment company in Charlotte. Starnes has beeri a consultant to numerous ; small business firms and has been on the faculties of Davidson College and Western Carolina University. Mr. Murdock Morrison, president and owner of ‘ Morrison Services, Inc. of Shelby, will speak on "Data Processing for Small Businesses. Mrs. Valdaree Shull, Ph. D., is director of Creative Leadership Consulting Associates of Shelby. A Duke and Southeastern University graduate, Mrs. Shull has conducted leadership training seminars for various I business and professional organizations. Senior Vice-President of Corporate Banking for ' Northwestern Bank, James N. Snoak will give his ideas j on “The Economic Outlook.” He is a graduate of ; Davidson College and has been with Northwestern Bank for 10 years. The president and director for Queen City Foods, Inc., owners and operators of Pizza Inn, Charlotte, N.C., Spoon’s Ice Cream Co., and a partner in McBand Associates Restaurant Consultants will talk on “Marketing for Small Business.” Mr. Bobby McIntyre has served as president and director of marketing for Hungry Bull Steak Houses, Quincy’s Family Steak Houses and Yamaha City, Inc. 1' "Accounting and Taxes for Small Businesses,” will be Ronald Martin and Michael Abernathy’s subject. They are Certified Public Accountants with the firm of Ernst and Whinney. Mr. Martin is a manager in the firm’s Charlotte office and Abernathy is senior officer ^ ^ in the firm’s tax department. The Broyhill Academy at Gardner-Webb College is sponsoring this event in cooperation with the Greater I Shelby Chamber of Commerce and the Small Business Administration. The seminar is made possible through 11 a special grant from the Shelby Cullom Davis Foundation to the Broyhill Academy.
