On Friday night, there will be a cookout and inspirational song service in church at 8 p.m. with Phil Sigimore. On Saturday there will be field day competition at Zion Baptist Church. On Sunday, ^he youth will help in all regular church activities. The WMU Council will meet on August 5th and the Long RMge Planning Committee will meet on August 6th. Thursday night Don McSwain and three others represented the Town at the Cleveland County’s Fireman Association meeting, and distributed clothing which had been donated by Boiling Springs residents for the victims of a July 18 trailer fire at Casar. Police 2 August. A resident returned home to Varsity Square apartments after 9:30 p.m. and found the back window broken, the door open, and a stereo and cash missing. Police recorded the loss at $956.00 and are actively investigating the case as a breaking and entering, larceny. 30 July. Vandals broke out a skylight at West Cleveland School Thursday night and caused an estimated $400 damage. Police are investigating. The group was accompaied by Mari Wiles and Mrs. David Brooks. * * Mrs. Steven Goode, Amber and Andy, Mrs. Goode’s mother, Mrs. Nancy Anthony, visited with Mr. and Mrs. Austin Anthony and Mrs. Herbert Blanton in Boiling Springs on Wednesday evening. * * Due to inclement weather, grades 1-6 enjoyed games at the fellowship hall instead of an outing at Kings Mountain National Park on Thursday and the youth along with several other youth groups enjoyed a cookout on Thursday evening at the home of Mrs. Gagla Richard in Fallston. if if A retreat was held at Mars Hill College Friday for the youth and Mt. Pleasant’s youth participated in it. A three mile hike, a movie entitled, “No Longer Alone,’’ and a discussion by the campus minister, David Smith, were enjoyed. Roy Ramsey and Mari Wiles attended the puppet work shop at the Kings Mountain Baptist Associational Building in Shelby on Saturday afternoon. They report a very informative and interesting workshop. * * Mr. and Mrs. Larry Hicks, Catherine and Eliz beth, took Mrs. Hicks’ grandmother, Mrs. Mae Hopper, to Newport, Tenn. on Saturday. A pretty birthday cake with lighted candles was cut and served with colos to the guests attending the party. Angie received many nice gifts. Her mother, Mrs. Jenny Jenkins of Shelby was hostess for the party and her grandparents Mr. and Mrs. Buren Jolley of this community, were special guests. * * Mr. and Mrs. Steve Goode, Amber and Andy, visited on Saturday evening with Mr. and Mrs. Gary Cooper and Adam and Mr. and Mrs. Frank Griffin, Jr. all of ■ Shelby. ** Th^e children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren of the late Mr. and Mrs. Frank Hamrick, Sr. enjoyed their reunion at Mt. Pleasant Fellowship Hall on Sunday. This reunion is held every five years and it is interesting to see the new faces that are added each five years. Lots of food, fun and fellowship was enjoyed by the group.
