Eighteen members attended. It wi.J meet with Mrs. Howard Wacaster at' 7:30 p.m. ** Ricky Goodman, a_ student at Gardner-Webb College, sang special music on’Sunday night at Flint Hill. ** Mr. and Mrs. William Howington and Betsy and Anna and Stephanie Burleson of New London visited Mr. and Mrs. James Ledbetter, Shannon, Ashley and Andrea on Sunday, They came especially for the 90th birthday celebration of Mrs. Jessie Howington at Beaver Dam Baptist Church. The family were dinner guests of Mr. and Mrs. Herman Howington. ♦ * Mr. and Mrs. Horace Moore visited Mrs. Jimmy Carpenter at Presbyterian Hospital in Charlotte. She and Mr. Carpenter are the proud parents of a son. Mrs, Carpenter is Mr. and Mrs. Moore’s granddaughter. * * Bruce Uil of the U.S. Navy at Millington, Tenn. re cently visited his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Willie Lail. ♦ * Mr. and Mrs. Larry Ledbetter and Mr. and Mrs. Durham Ledbetter spent Friday night and Saturday at Lake Wylie at the Ledbetter place. Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Spain of Belmont visited them there. ♦ ♦ Durham Ledbetter and John Scoville attended a mech anical show in Charlotte Thursday. They also attended open house at Barrett Battery Company. Before re turning home they visited John Scoville II at UNC - Charlotte. Miss Ashley and Andrea Ledbetter celebrated their 5th birthdays Friday with a party at their home. They are twin daughters of Mr. and Mrs. James Ledbetter. lavcmia Cdmmmiity Mrs. Julia McSwain spent Sunday night and Monday with her mother, Mrs. Ada Ruppe in Forest City, * ♦ , Mrs. Jessie Howington, age 90 and oldest member of the Beaver Dam Baptist Church still living, was honored at the service there Sunday morning. Following the special service, a luncheon was held in her honor at the home of her son and his wife, Mr. and Mrs. Herman Howington. A large number of family attended the affair. Prospect Community by Mrs. Broadus McGinnis Mr. and Mrs. G.V. Scruggs, and Mr. and Mrs. Odus Scruggs spent Saturday with Mr. and Mrs. Wofford Scruggs, Melanie and Cliff in Belmont. The family have moved recently from Winston-Salem to Belmont. ♦ ♦ Mrs. Ira Elmore, Mrs. Eflie Mosteller and Mrs. Broadus McGinnis visited Thursday with Mrs, Cecile Jolley. * ♦ Mrs, Edna Fasolino is a patient in the general hospital in Spartanburg, S.C. She visited Mrs. Broadus McGinnis in the afternoon, Mrs. Addie Bridges and Mae Hamrck of Kings Mountain visited Mrs, McGinnis also, *♦ Rhonda, Elizabeth and Myra Price attended the sixth birthday party for Amy Sherijley at Cliffside Sunday afternoon. Mr. and Mrs. Buren Jolley attended the football game in which the Pee Wees of Elizabeth School played on Saturday at Burns School. Mrs. Jolley reports this was the first time for her to attend a ballgame and she enjoyed it very much. Their granddaughter, Agnie Jenkins, was one of the cheerleaders for the game. ** The Steve Goode gamily attended the annual Anthony Reunion at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Don ANthony in Boiling Springs on Sunday. Amber Goode was the over night guests on Saturday of Mr. and Mrs. Ronnie Alex ander and Christy. Guests in the Goode home during the week were Mrs. Gloria Iverter, Charlotte Penson, Alicia Kitts, Mkrk Anthony, Mrs. Carl Goode, and Mrs. Buren Hamrick. The Jim Walkers visited with Sharon Hammett at ASU in Boone over the weekend. This was Parents Day and they enjoyed a tour of the campus followed by a picnic on the campus. Then enroute home from Boone they visited Mr. and Mrs, Gene Weaver at Hudson. Mrs. Weaver is the former Sule Watts, daughter of Rev. and Mrs. Dwight Watts, a former pastor of Mt. Pleasant. Mr. and Mrs. Shull Whitaker spent Saturday visiting with Mr, and Mrs. William Dellinger and family in Statesville. ** Mr. and Mrs, Garland Jolley attended the 50th anniver sary of Campfield Memorial Church on Sunday. Mrs, Jolley is a charter member of the church. ** The Homer Sarratts entertained a group of friends and relatives at a fish fry on Saturday evening. Those present to enjoy the very delicious meal were Mr. and Mrs. Bruce Adams, Mr. and Mrs, Clyde Blanton, Mr. and Mrs. Buren Hamrick and Mr, and Mrs, Willie Pruette. The Ranny Blantons visited in Kings Mountain on Sat urday and Sunday. Cobb and Rev. and Mrs, Johnny Hunt and Holly of Wilmington. Mr. and Mrs. Scott Burleson spent Saturday night with Mr. and Mrs. Tommy Burleson and Phil of Caroleen. Trinity Baptist Church elected officers and teachers on Sunday for this year. Those serving on the moninat- ing committee were Ray Crowe, Mrs. Thelma Beason and Mrs. Mike Edwards. 4> * Mr. and Mrs. Corn Padgett remain patiaits at Crawley Memorial Hospital. ** Mrs. Clara Beason and Quinn, Mr. and Mrs. W.E. Smith visited Mr. and Mrs. Albert Bostic af Johnson City, Tenn. on Saturday. They also went to Elizabeth and Watauga Dam plus other points of interest in the area. ♦ ♦ Mrs. Hilda Barnwell and children of Fayetteville visited Mr. and Mrs. Marshall Byars over the weekend. Mrs. Byars recently returned home after spending a few days as a patient at Crawley Memorial Hospital. Mr. and Mrs. Grady Goode, Sr. are spending a few days at Myrtle Beach, S.C. ** Sunday afternoon guests of Mr. and Mrs. F.A, Lovelace were Mrs. Priscilla Buchannan and Mrs. Lucille Kelly of Boiling Springs. *♦ Mr. and Mrs. Harvey Harris of Hickory visited Mrs. Selma Harris on Sunday afternoon. *♦ Mr, and Mrs, Harold Bishop were Sunday dinner guests of Rev. and Mrs, J.E. Bishop of near Shelby. ** Rev. Arthur Yount delivered the message for the Sunday night service. His parents from the Startown area visited his family on Sunday and attended church services at Trinity. Mrs. Harold Bishop and Mrs. Guy Gillespie took Guy Gillespie to Charlotte on Tuesday for a check-up of his eye that he had been operated on recently. ** Miss Jennifer Bridges has enrolled in piano and voice lessons. Miss Carla Bridges has also enrolled in piano lessons. They are students of Mrs. Myrtle Mashburn of Cliffside and daughters of Mr. and Mrs. Wayne Bridges. ** Mr. and Mrs. James Toney and family attended the celebration of the 50th anniversary of Campfield B^lst Church of Ellenboro on Sunday morning and joined in for the lunch after the service. They also visited relatives and friends of Earnest Moore, Jr. who was killed in a car accident on Sunday afternoon in Forest City. ♦ ♦ Mr. and Mrs. Marion Scruggs visited Mrs. Phil Toney of Bostic on Saturday night. * * Mrs. Henry Skinner of Columbia, S.C. visited Mrs. Nita Skinner on Wednesday, ** Mr. and Mrs. Bobby Dobbins of Greenville, S.C. were guests of Mrs. Faye Dobbins on Sunday afternoon. ** The Trinity Homemakers Club met at the home of Mrs. Harold Bishop on Monday night. During the bus iness session, plans for the booth to be entered in the Cleveland County Fair, along with other business was discussed. New officers were elected for the new year. Following the program, Mrs. Bishop served delicious refreshments. We express community sympathy to Mrs. Cleo Wallace in the death of her sister-in-law, Mrs. Oletta Moore, of Cramerton who died Sunday and funeral services were held on Tuesday. ♦ ♦ Several ladies attended the Sandy Run WMUassoclational leadership conference at Bethany Church on Monday and Tuesday evening. Beaver Dam Community Congratulations to Mr, and Mrs. Roger Padgett on the birth of a son. Rush, born on Wednesday of last week. ♦ ♦ Our sympathy is extended to the family and friends of Mrs. Minnie Justice, whose funeral was held on Sunday. She was buried in Beaver Dam cemetery where her late husband and eight of his brothers are also burled. Beaver Dam Baptist Church will hold baptismalservices this Sunday afternoon at 2 p.m. at the Lattimore Baptist Church. * * The first PTO at Lattimore School was held on Thur sday night at 7 p.m, ♦ * Congrautlatbns to Ralph and Ruth Callahan on their. first wedding anniversary on Sept. 20, ♦ * Revival is now in progress at Liberty Baptist Church. Services are at 7 p.m.. Sept. 21-25 with Rev. Bobby Utley as evangelist. ♦ * Mrs. Tency Bridges took her first plane ride last Sunday evening with her grandson, Joey Bridges, at the controls. She described the ride as fun, and wouldn’t mind going up again. ■i/. t On Sept. 13, the Adult II Sunday School Class had a picnic at Kings Mountain State Park. On the way home, the Walt Price family encountered a large rattlesnake in the road. Walt killed it and Wendy took it to her science class the following week. Later, Walt skinned it for a souvenir. ** On Saturday, Wesley Barrett enjoyed his filth birthday with a party at his home. Seven guests were present. ♦ ♦ On Sunday evening, we had a GA and Acteens Recog nition Service at the evening worship service. Those participating in the service were Tina Price, Libby Weathers, Heather Wortman, Tina Price, Sandy Hump hries, Kelly Hawkins, Tiffany Fowler, Freida Bowen, Kristi Wortmen, Wendy Jones, Michelle Sorrells, Kim Jones, Wendy Price, Lisa Sorrells, Kim Wortman, Julie McSwain, Joanna Sorrell, and Kim Hipps. ** Mrs. Flossie Allen spent part of last week in Wash ington, D.C.
