A. force is rap idly changing. C. H. E'llinwood, build ing secretary of “Y” 106, has left for I'Yance. Leslie Martin, building secre tary of 102, at his own request, has been transferred to the Central De partment, where he will do Y. M. C. A. work. Dr. A. R. Brown, who, since last fall has been religious director of building 106, is spending a brief vacation at his home in New Haven, Conn Several new "Y” men have come itno camp. Building 104 received two secretaries: Herbert A. French, act ing secretary of religious work, and Mr. Hargreaves, acting educational secretary. Mr. Grubb has been placed as acting religious .secretary of 106, and Mr. Cole as acting assistant build ing secretary at 105. The force of Y. M. C. A. secretaries at the Base Hospital has been very greatly strengthened by the coming of Dr. Charles Lincoln Jackson. Before enter ing upon Y. M. C. A. work. Dr. Jack- son was pastor of a prosperous Baptist church in Brooklyn, N. Y. He comes to the hospital “Y” after a service of several months as religious director in building 103. Tryon, Phone 1325 During his stay at his previous lo cation, Dr. Jackson frequently visited the hospital patients, so that he slips into his new work very naturally. He will have charge of all the Y. M. C. A. hospital visitation. At the Sunday eve ning service in the Y. M. C. A. build ing Dr. Jackson made a very impres sive address on “The Sins of Youth!” THEATRICAL STAR ENTERTAINS. NEW K. OF C. QUARTERS. The bhse hospital.chapel, where Cath olic services have been held for some time is being converted into use for K. of C. quartern ih addition to its purpose for services. Desks are being installed. Stationary will be provided and read ing material will be available. The taking over of the chapel by the K. of C will conflict in no way with the ‘holding of religious services. We were very fortunate in having to entertain us at the Y. M. C. A. build- Uig on Wednesday night Sgt. Joe Kershenblatt, of the Casual Camp. Sgt. Kershenblatt hails from New York and has done big time all over the Keith circuit. He is a composer as well as a singer and one of his numbers was a composition by his brother and himself, which received a great ovation. Kershenblatt will prob ably be identified as Mort Sands co worker. PRESIDENT’S DAUGHTER GIVES VOCAL CONCERT. SUNDAY MORNING SERVICE. Beginning with next Sunday a ser vice will be held every Sunday morn ing at 10:30 o’clock, in the base hospi tal “Y.” The Rev. Dr. Henry P. Eck- hardt, one of the Lutheran camp pas tors, will speak next Sunday morning. All Lutherans are urged to avail them, selves of this opportunity to meet their camp pastor. However, the service is for all others who may wish to come. ,-Miss Mar.garet Wilson, daughter of President Wilson gave a con cert at the hospital Y. M. C. A. Fri day night. The room was packed and every number was enthusi.isti- cally received. EXCHANGES AN AWFUL GERM. Disease prognosticators are cheer ing us with the prophecy that volley- ballitis is about to strike the base hos pital. A peculiarity of this disease is, it is said, that once it becomes deep seated it drives out all other diseases.. Hurry up, base hospital convalescents, and catch a few germs. Work has been started at Great Lakes Naval Training Station on wh:it is expected to be the moat modern and best equipped athletic field in the coun try. BAPTIST PASTOR SPEAKS. The Rev. Dr. Hainer, the Baptist camp pastor, spoke at the “Y” on Friday evening. It was Dr. Hainer’s first opportunity to speak to the men at the base hospital “Y.” He left a deep impression upon those who heard him. Since the United States entered the war the Ameridan Bible Society has made distribution of 2,146,904 vol umes of the New Testament, hound in khaki, pocket size, to the men of the Army and Navy.—Presbyterian Pha lanx.
