The Hash Sllngers and Dough Wrestlers met Monday night In the second game of their series and the tables were turned this time. Zelzet's crew came out victorious but it really was on account of rain. The score stood 10 to 6 at the end of the sixth, and Kurtz’ gangsters protested vigor ously at stopping the game, although a small sized deluge was very much in evidence. One argument after another led to big stakes being produced ("Sol Laske wasc the only producer) and .another game has been arranged for Doug. Fairbanks for Charlie Chaplin Monday night. This promises to outdo Doug. Fairbanks for stunts and Charlie Chaplin for comedy. WE HAVE HOPES. The wlress are burning on a game with the so-called champions of Camp Greene. The Aviators have laid claim t othis honor, but they have got to beat the Base- Hospital team before we will admit it. As a result a series is to be arranged if possible, to be played on Wearn Field in Charlotte. Nothing Is getting by us now, and we are positive that we can beat the best of them. WILL FEATURE SWAT FEST ARENA BEING REARED FOB MON DAY NIGHT SHOW. The entire detachment is keyed up with interest in the opening exhibit of the “manly art” which is to be staged on Monday evening. The arena is being reared, just west of the barracks row, and prerarations are being made for an attendance of sev eral hundred men when the gong sounds at 8:30 Monday night. Privates Prank Donovan and Jonn Terrilo, two of the most clever mid- dleweights in the camp, will put on the main contest. They have been on the training staff of several national mit artists. They aro both game to the core and remarkably clever. They will fight six rounds and nobody is ex pecting a moment of stalling. The first preliminary will be be tween Privates Kramer and Purcell. For many who have seen these ban tams in action the opening number offers the big attraction of the night of sport. Two sergeants of base hospital No. 54 will put on the second fight. They do not care to have their names in troduced as yet although both are do ing plenty of road work in prepara tion. Tommy Bums and Private Edgely are to box as the third match. They are real mixers. It is expected that Camp Physical Director f the Y. M. C. A. Bergeman will act as referee for the evening. PRIVATE JOHN TERRILO PRIVATE FRANK DONOVAN WHO WAS WHO IN ATHLETICS MANY SEE RACES. Delving a bit deeper into the history of men at the detachment who have dabbled in athletics we find Pvt. Zech- er who hails from Mass. “Zeck” has played with Hartford in the Conn, league, with various semi profession al teams throughout the “North.” Pvt. “Tommy Grey” has played pro fessional basket ball in the North and refused many offers to go to college. Pvt. “ammy Brown” has played semi professional ball around Haverhill with the Wlllets. Pvt. “Phill” Barran has played soc cer football with the sons of St. George and was known as a consistent play er. Sergt. Evans has also played ball around Connecticut and was known as a sure man. Pvt. Jarlvs has played the Infield for a lot of good teams and also can sting the pill. Pvt. Wilson can also get them on either side of him and has had lots of experience in the national game. Pvt. Goddard Is known among his acquaintances as a steady quiet ball player and it is also known that he can swt the ball, Hundreds of the base hospital en listed men, closely followed by sev eral dozen officers, watched the thrill ing auto races at the fair grounds Wednesday afternoon. “It was great stuff” is the general comment. Several of the finishes were close and there was lots of dust stirred up when the machines skidded at the turns. There were a few minor acci dents but no critical injuries. It was a dust begrimed but happy lot which came back too late for 'chow'’ ANOTHER GO, It is understood that Pvt. Cyr, the New Hampshire light weight, chal lenges Kid Farrel, who formerly fought out of New Haven, for a ten- round bout. Cyr weighs 140 lbs. while Parrel’s ringside weight would be 125 lbs. at the most. A little light for the Hay seed but plenty of nerve. Parrel is training with Pvt. Connors, another very clever boy. Pvt. Jawn Patrick Mullvhill Is their boxing in structor. Both Cyr and Parrel are Telephone “girls,” but they are sure hard boiled. An Interesting bout is looked for.
