When the deluded Teuton soldiers are eating half rations of cow beans for breakfast, cow beans for din ner and cow beans for the evening meal we would like to call their at tention to the “starvation rations” of the Sammies. A few thousand copies of the Sun day dinner menu card, dropped from a balloon into a German camp, might go a long ways towards ending the wa^. Here fe, what the enlisted men of the base hospital had placed be fore them, at noon, on last Sunday: Roast Lamb Mashed Potatoes String Beans Gravy Bread Peach Shortcake Chocolate Ice Cream Drink—Grape Juice. When the excellent flavor of the cooking of Laske and his men is add ed to the above bill of fare it can be readily understood why we sing “It’s great to be enlisted in the army.” BRILLIANT AFFAIR OFFICERS’ DANCE MARKED SUCCESS. One of the most b i iant social af fairs of the year for Camp Greene was the dance given by the base hospital officers, at the officers’ quarters on Thursday night. Colonel Kennon, camp commander, was in attendance. Major George Renn did the honors for the base hos pital. Most of the officers of the hospital and the officers’ wives were present Nearly all the nurses from the R. N. A. N. C. were there. The quarters were tastily decorated for the occasion. They have been posted at the most centralized points to receive contributions, sug gestions, subscriptions and objections to The Caduceus. "This announcement is made in order to save The Caduceus from a possible bankruptcy. Dozens of hospital pati ents and members of the enlisted force have taken the “white sentries" Private Leroy Sellers, dental assist ant at the base hospital, made the highest grade for Capip Greene at the recent psychological examination. His grade was 380 out of a possible perfect grade of 412. The showing also does credit to the camp as the Camp Greeneleaf record is 344 for the highest grade. Sellers is a graduate in law from Indiana State University. CAPTAIN ILL. Captain Thomas S:. Crowe, detach ment commander, suffered an attack of kidney trouble on Thursday. He was removed to the officers' ward. Por a time his state was considered crit ical. He was much Improved on Fri day evening. for mail boxes. We have mailed every letter found in The Caduceus boxes in order to carry out our ambition of service. At least eighty letters have been mailed during ,tne past week Part of the letters were unstamped. We stamped the letters because we did not know to whom they belonged. We have drained The Caduceus treas ury of thirty-nine cents in so doing. These “For The Caduceus” sentries are located at the Y. M. C. A.; between barracks 6 and barracks 7 on the de tachment row; under the old oak tree, at the end of the kase hospital No. 54 company street; in front of the nurses home; at the junction of the central runway and the C row covered walk; on the B row at the central runway and in front of the laboratory. The general orders for The Cadu ceus sentries are that all progressive ideas, news items and witty articles prepared at the base hospital should “advance and be recognized.” Conducts a strictly Savings Business and pays interest on all deposits, We cordially invite your Patronage Jno.
