MEDICAL SUPPLY
RESOURCES POOLED
(By Stock.)
Things became very lively around
our barracks the other day, when
“Fritz” mley boldly asserted that he
was the best pool shark that ever
chased the ivories across the felt and
could lick any man here or here
abouts with both eyes blinded and one
arm tied to his ears. .Immediately
■ Seidie” Seidenbecker became wrath
ful and clamored for a fight, claim
ing that he cut his teeth on a cue
ball and that next to jail he felt at
home more on a pool table. The
match was scheduled for 7:30 p. m.
Monday at IJberty Park.
Heavy betting was in order. Riley
threw a scare iuto the crowd by call
ing for three tens for a thirty dollar
bill. Excitement waxed warm. “Shrlm-
po” Goldslager bet his “civs” hat
against a pair of Tom Goldman’s B.
V. D.’s. Patsy Singer staked his ser
vice record against Doc Stockard’s
rep (which, by the way, was the only
hedge bet recorded). Rip Van Winkle,
Jr., was made stakeholder and a
heavy armed guard was placed over
him. Everybody was on tip-toe and
drunk with Bloody Bevo.
The procession proceeded to lib
erty Park and awaited the arrival of
the gladiators. One hour, no glads,
two hours and still no glads. At last
it was discovered that a hoax had
been perpetrated on an innocent pub
lic. All night dire threats of lynching
rent the air and the lives of Fritz
and Riley could have been bought
with a “Class A Cacd.”
“Secret Service” Hungerford was
dispatched to round up the slacking
f cik©rs
Seidie was found all balled-up in a
ball of yarn, while his wife sat inno
cently knitting a sweater for some
poor, convalescent poodle, Fritz
was captured by our eagle-eyed sleuth
in the innermost recess of the sur
rounding forest, penning a 20-page let
ter to Puiladelphia.
