K. OF C. RECRUITS COME TO CAMP TO BE MADE SECRETARIES. Camp Greene some time ago was designated by the K. of C. as a school for the training of secretaries to be distributed in the camps of the South Atlantic district comprising the states of North Carolina, South Carolina, Georgia and Florida. All recruits on their arrival at Char lotte are immediately furnished with the official welfare uniform of forest green, hat, leather puttees, and shoes. This abrupt change of costume at once completely obliterates the vivid ness of the past. Instilling a tinge of the military and creating a vibrant enthusiasm of anticipation of immi nent active duty. He then sees a K. of C. building most likely for the first time. His curious eyes hastily absorbs the neat ly arranged equipment of writing- tables, pianola, pool tables, victrola, and magazine racks; and a wave of inward content sweeps ' over him drowning the last vestige of uncer tainty as to his liking the work. In the past week the lollowing re cruits were added to the l^onor list. But a short intense training will erase the prefix recruit and magically sub stitute secretary: J. T. Bryan from Newark, N. J.. chiropractor. Daniel M. Coffey from Brooklyn, N. Y., college student. J. H. Downle from Hoosick Falls, N. Y., professional golfer. Rudolph Kreuger from Michigan City, Ind., mercantile business., T. H. Daly from Richmond Hill, N. Y., accountant. THE CADUCEUS. FOR COLORED TROOPS. Through the kind graces of Colonel xvennon, who has permitted the use of an unused mess hall in the negro section of the camp for a building to be jointly equipped by the K. of C. and Jewish welfare organizations, the negro drafted men will shortly enjoy the privileges ottered to white soldiers. Mr. Kehoe of the K. of C. and Mr. Rabinowitz of the Jewish organiza tion are completing the plans, which include motion pictures, a phonograph and other forms of amusement; and there will be two colored secretaries in charge, representative of each of the organizations. ' THOSE SEVEN KEYS. The two a week program of movies at the ■ Y” was inaugerated Monday night by the six reel picture “Seven Keys To Baldpate,” by George M. Coh an with Mr. Cohan playing the leading part and was thoroughly enjoyed by the entire audience. We are sure this , double program of pictures weekly will prove of ad^ed joy and recreation for the men at the Base Hospital. A K. OF C. PORTER. Our Sambo is a colored boy Who never went to school; But when it comes to working You can bet he is no fool. He’ll duck and dodge and fool around. Play the piano, dance and sing; And when you tell him what to do He’ll say Yas sah! and won’t do a thing. GO TO HOBOKEN.
