The chilly weather of the early part of the week put lots of “Pep” into the patients of this Ward. We had to put shackles on Stanek and Parrott to keep them from losing us on tne hike. WISE AND OTHERWISE. ENJOYED AUTO RIDES. By Sergeant Ray J. Derwort. As the guest of Mrs. H. B. Fanler, 906 W. avenue the following men en joyed an auto ride last Friday— Stanek, Fuller, Gowing. As the guest of Mrs. P. H. Hadley 409 E. Boulevard the following' men enjoyed a trip, Monday—Mclntpre, Lambert. The War Camp Community Service placed three large cars at the disposal of the patients of this Ward under the supervision of Mrs. .Jeremiah Goff. Stanek is slowly recovering from the injuries received when he was thrown to the floor by Hoffman. The barber is treating his misplaced eye brow and a pair of “Bones” will mend the broken dollar bill. The following were the fortunate ones to enjoy the ride—Stanek, Arm strong, Stalvey, Kisich, Colville, John son, Hoffman, Skelecki, Natale, Vick ers, Gaberman, DeGroat, Parrott. Bille. The military road from Manila to Baguio, the summer capital of the Philippine Islands, is a monument to the energy, skill and executive abil ity of Colonel Kennon, and for the work he received the personal com mendation of President Roosevelt. Colonel Kennon was a writer of note on military subjects, and the author of several army manuals. Colonel and Mrs. Kennon lived at 609 East avenue in Charlotte and it was here that Mrs. Kennon was noti fied of the colonel’s sudden death. She hastened to New Ydrk on Monday morning. Colonel William A. Kent of the 810th Pioneer Infantry, who was called to command the camp in the absence of Colonel Kennon, is temporarily the camp commander. MASONIC NOTICE.
