Another Captain at the Base Hos
pital is Herman'J. Keyser who was
commissioned on August 21, 1918 and
has made an admiral record in his
work in dentistry.
Captain Keyser entered the service
on July 11, 1917 and was assigned
to the Camp Hospital at Gettysburg,
Pa. He was transferred to the 7 th U.
S. Infantry at Gettysburg, Pa., in Aug
ust 1917 and remained with that or
ganization until ordered to the U. S.
Army Base Hospital at Camp Greene
N. C. on February 21, 1918.
“His life was that of a Christian
soldier,” ,was the reference to the late
Colonel L. W. V. Kennon by the Rev.
A. A. McGeacfiy, D. D., pastor of the
Second Presbytrian church, at the
beautiful memorial services conduct
ed for the late camp commander at
the First Presbyterian church, in
Charlotte last Sunday.
“Colonel Kennon drew men to him
by his personality,” said Rev. Dr. Mc-
Geachy. “He left the mark of his pa-
tern^ care upon the minds of the
meh of Camp Greene.”
The auditorium of the church was
filled with Charlotte friends of the
Kennon family and with officers and
enlisted men from Camp Greene. The
Rev. Albert Sidney Johnson, pastor
of the First Presbyterian church, pre
sided during the scripture readings.
The Rev. Daniel Iverson of Camp
Greene offered prayer.
Major Lahey and wife spent Sat
urday and Sunday at Asheville.
Mrs. Johnson is visiting her hus
band Captain Johnson.
The following officers of U. S. 'vrmy
Ease Hospital of this camp have been
ordered to Evacuation Hospital No. 30,
now organizing in the camp. Major
Lahey, surgical chief, Capts. McLean,
Cook, Richardson, Lts. Cleveland and
Bayer
Captain Darling, medical supply offi
cer of the camp has been suffering
from a hard cold. Some how the iodimj
didn’t work.
Captain Ellen’s class in sitting up
exercises has a new recruit. Captain
Brown.
• Captain and Mrs. Johnson enter
tained their officer friends last Satur
day evening. The occasion was their
third wedding aniversary. Those pres
ent were Major Adams, Captain Elien
and Lt. Munson. Lunch was served.
Lieut. Schumaker who has liad
charge of Isolation No. 4 for the last
six months has been ordered to Camp
Sevier for duty with Base Hospital
No. 100.

During his service with the 7th In
fantry, he was coach of the football
team both at Gettysburg and at Camp
Greene and the Officers football team
at Gettysburg.
He was demonstrator in crown and
bridge work Philadelphia, Pa., in 1916
until he was called to the service,
and was also demonstrator in analyti
cal chemistry in the School of Phar
macy, Temple University Philadelphia
Pa. He also had charge of the dental
clinic in the Samartion Hospital, at
Major .Joseph H. Way returned on
Tuesday from U. S. General Hospit
al at Waynesville N. C. where he ac
companied a patient from this Hospit
al.
