Many enquiries have been made at
The Caduceus office as to the where
abouts of one Private Harold A. Mills,
smetimes knwn as “Oscar,” but mre
popularly termed “Ham” by his_ more
intimate associates, strange as it may
seem “Ham” is absent on furlough.
He is re-visiting his former home in
Gloversville, N. Y.

Among the men to report back to
this detachment for duty this week
are: Cook Rufae from New Hamp
shire; Raymond Greene from Texas;
Romeo Hamel from Massachusetts;
Ray Foust, from New Jersey; Napo
leon Lamereoux from' Massachusetts,
and Roger O’Brien from New York
state.
American soldiers in France will be
restricted to one Christmas package
each under an order issued by the
war department. The gross weight
must be no more than three pounds.
General March, the chief of staff, is
sued the following statement:
“The war department E^uthorizes
relatives or friends of officers and sol
diers in France to send Christmas
packages which will be of standard
size and weight, one to each individ
ual in the American expeditionary
force. A standard contaned to be
used will be 9x4x3 inches and the
weight limit will be three pounds.
Standard containers of the size indi
cated may be had by application to the
local Red Cross chapters throughout
the country.
“In order to insure the arrival of
these Christmas packages in France
and their distribution to , the soldiers
by Christmas all such packages mu.st
be mailed on or before November 15,
1918.
“In order to insure the limitation of
one package per man, which in itself
will consume a very large amount of
tonnage, a: plan has been worked out
by which General Pershing is forward
ing to the war department coupons on
which are inscribed the correct names
and addresses of the members of the
American expeditionary forces.. These
coupons will be distributed, and no
package will be forwarded without a
coupon.”
