H i SURGERY NOTES NO OPERATIONS. The operating suite and its husj^ days belong to the past. At the pres ent time influenza not being alone content to malce itself known has ap peared officious enough to assume to “star role” a tthe entire camp. Conse quently operations have been discon tinued until the epidemic is over, ex cept in cases of emergency. ’ Misses Kelly and Lanor formerly of the operating room personnel have been placed in charge of influenza ward on D street. Miss Peterson is located on C street trying to live up to the past by co operating with Capt. Webster in follow up work in surgery. Miss Sonner is keeping the homo fires burning at the deserted pavillion awaiting the coming of deserted days. WHEN THEY COME. Lieut. .Thomas, anaesthethist, one of the latest students of the famous Hunt system of typewriting, is daily be coming more efficient i nthis art. How ever we hope that he will not acquire too great speed; a slower process al lowing him the privilege of turning to smiles without making mistakes is to be preferred. We regret exceedingly to hear of the departure of Captain KImmel, Capt. Gonterno, Lieuts. Milen, Sparkman for overseas duty. We wish them all suc cess for a safe return. IN THE HOSPITALS. Capt. Sid Darling, Medical Supply Officer, is ill in the Officers’ Ward with an attack of influenza. During bis stay in the Hospital the class in Aecromancy which he was instructing. Lieutenant Prank Aeschelski, of demount Station 306, Camp Greene, ^as married last Saturday morning, at 10 o’clock, at the Second Presby terian church parsonage, to Miss Ma tte Coppala, of 405 West Twelfth street. Sgt. Henry C. Roberts has received his orders to report to Louis ville, Ky., at the Artillery Onicers’ Training school. What will the finance do now that Sgt. Mathes has gone to Jacksonville. Things will be uphill from now on. Never mind Sgt. Myrick is still here. Sgt. Smith of Motor Transportation was held up by the sentry as he was putting his car in the garage. It seems he had been out burning the midnight oil. Sgt. Kelly reported to the Transpor tation office for duty last week hav ing transferred from Truck Company 330. The Q. M. Quartette composed of Sgt. Dolan, Corporal Berger, Corporal Crawford and Sgt. 1st Class Marcus Is a sufficient .bugle call. It is heard at Reveille and retreat. Sgt. Dobkins of the utilities branch has been teaching the men in his squad manual of arms with a broom. If Q. M. Sgt. Howard Rogers had pipe dreams the tobacoc he smoked would be made in Philadelphia. Sgt. Day has' returned from the Base Hospntal where he has been conval escing from the automobile accident that attracted so much attention a few weeks ago. He is doing light duty now and hopes to be fully recovered soon. The remaining men of the old re gime in Property Branch, Sgt. Cop- Ion, and Corporals Vogt, Kreimer and Dreesen are busy instructing men in. their branch. They are teaching the limited service men how to limit ser vice clothes. Attention: Q. M. Sgt. Fay Albright of Subsistence Branch, is awaiting his orders. Jriest. Sgt. Slattery has been appointed supply Sgt. for the Detachment. He issues forth in full charge. Sgt. Ben Edwards Is in love and he don’t mind telling it. Corporal Charlie Craig has returned from the Base, where he bad been under the influence of influenza. Sgt. James Anderson, of Fuel and Forage, has been looking over the Fi nance Office to see how he would like it should he receive his orders soon. Sgt. Morris, the top-kicker, is be coming very hard boiled about the influenza. x.,est. Sgt. Ben Byl is expected to return soon from the Base Hospital. Private 1st Class McMullen of Fi nance was recently promoted to Sgt. Sgt. 1st Class. Risen from the ranks. Sgts. Dolan, Streed, Rothschild, Mel- vil Miller, Qninn, Welser, and Corpo rals Crawford, Joshua Phillips, Jack- son and old man Smith are among those recently sent to the Base Hos pital on account of the influenza. A Motor Transport Corps is now being formed, its nucleus being mem- Quartermaster Corps. The names of the men are as follows: Q. M.'Sgt. Pete Stinger, Sgt. Dillon, Sgt. Van- dor, and Privates De Young, Blake, Beck, Brewer and Evans. Sgt. Stinger of the Finance office does not like the indoor games. Sgt. Andrews of Finance has the symptoms of a 2nd Lieutenant.
