Wth the departure of Captain Johnson to a point of embarkation a new receiving officer had to be loun'i for the receiving ward and the man selected was captain, then First Lieu tenant Charles Candler. Since his arrival at the base hos pital in April, 191S, Captain Candler has been in charge of one of the many busy medical wards and his general ability there winning p'ornotion for him to receiving officer. Captain Candler, who is a native of this state, his home being at Syiva, N. C.; re ceived his notification of his appoint ment to the grade of first lienten-’iit in May, 1917, proceeding,, from his home to Fort Ogiethorpe,' Ga., thence to Camp Gordon, Ga., and to Camp Greene. He was commissioned captain October 29. Capt. Wm. B. Wilson has-been the efficient mess officer at the base hos- pitai for over a year and his recent promotion is one that was well earned by his tireless efforts in keeping every one well fed and contented. Captain Wilson entered the service bn May 1, 1917, as a student at the fmst officers’ trainin'' camp at Platts- biirg, N. Y., Graduating from there with a commission in the Q. M. C. on August 15 of the s"me year. Soon after he was orde’-ed to Camp Greene, takin" uu his duties as mess officer at the hospital on the 15th of Septem ber. Cn February 17, 1918, he w.as promoted to U'e grade of first lieuten ant and on October 29 commissioned captain. MORE OFFICERS ARRIVE AT CAMP GREENE. Neariy every organization in camp received a few of the many officers who arrived at Camp Greene last week and who are now stationed with their various commands.
