% THE CADUCEUS 17 MANY DANCE LUNAR LETTER ANOTHER SHOW GOOD MUSIC AIDS GAY AFFAIR. More than 200 nurses, enlisted men and friends- of the base hospital de tachment force attended the dance given by the enlisted men of the hos pital, at the Red Cross building, on Wednesday night. Lieutenant-Colonel •and Mrs. Renn paid the assembly the honor of their presence for a part ol the evening. Etxcell'ent music by the five piece orchestra from Charlotte added much to the lively spirit of the evening. Funds for securing tbe orchestra were furnished from the receipts of the hospital minstrel show. MASONIC NOTICE. Meeting of the Commandery, Thurs day night, December 12, at 8 p. m. , This -will be a business session and all who can possibly do so are urged to be present. ■ On Friday evening Dec. 13, there will be a special Conclave of the Charlotte Commandery for the pur pose of conferring the Red Cross and Knights of Malta degrees on accepted candidates of which there is a class of 15. Supper will be served at 6:30 p. m. On Wednesday of the next week, December 18, there will be another special conclave of the Charlotte Com mandery of Knight Templars No. 2 for the purpose of giving the degree of The Order of the Temple. Ahotlieir big show of the season Is to be the farewell vaudeville produc tion of the Personnel Department, record taking section, on next Tues day evening. Practice has been going on for some time and the series of acts are promised to be full of sparkle and life. Several young ladles of Charlotte are assisting in the show and will be part of a number of the skits. The shoe man told me they was gbpd leather and I could tell they wan ' when I got them wet for they wouldn’t draw up. They would crack open, and if I got a pair of socks to inatch people couldn’t tell the difference. I took them home and put them in a tube of water and gee they done just like he said, only the soal Is a whole lot thicker and just as springie. I sure is proud of them shoes and I know you will he. Pet, to think you will soon he discharged. I just can’t wait for them old Sea Boards train to come bringing you back to my arms and we can stroll thru ma’s garden and smell those on ions and other vegetables like we used two. You know that old Tom Webb. He wrote tue a letter the other day and he just called me all, kinder sweet names. But he needn t think I’m going to rite or have any thing to do with him, for I think too much of my honey and you remember the time we went to Mary’s party and we were playin’ post-office. You re member he kissed me rite in front of you, that just made me so mad that I just swelled up so much with anger that my pettycoat belt busted. I nev er will forgive him I think he ought to have waded till you wasn’t round, don’t you? Well, dearie, I will have to close for this time as ma wants me to help put the children to bed.
