Tire parent-teacher associatioii of Ihe Ray street school met Frid^ evening at the school. Mrs. H. _T. Hudson, president of the association presided and the following program was given: ’, „ i Mrs. Lillian Hayman’s first grade sang a group of songs. _ Mrs. C. E. Sullivan s sixth grade gae a Better Speech play. Miss Marian Mabry's Irst grade sang a song. _ , A trio from Miss Pearl Sams fifth grade sang **The Little Red School House.” These were Ray Hepler, Susan Sharpe and Louise Kearns._ A group from Miss MVrtle Tlt- nian’s fourth grade gave a folk dance, after which Charles Tomlin son, from tliat grade gave a read- inpT* Louise Caldwell and Victor How ard, of Miss Irene Holt’s (fourth grade, sang a duet. J’oe Hands Barker, from Miss Louise Townsend’s fourth grade, gave a reading. Mrs. Dan Schroder’s seventh grade sang a chorus. . rr Anne Gertrude Douglas and Kent Douglas, of Mirs. A. M. Richard son’s sixth grade, played a piano duet, “Indians Are Coimng.” A number of reports from, co^ mittee’s were heard, after which the coming of the Carolina Playmakers on April 17 was discussed. jMrs. Hudson appointed several cornmlitd tees to arrange for the coming of the Playmakers. Several of the teachers who attended teachers as sembly saw the Playmakers in Ral eigh and were very enthusiastic about the performance given. ‘Superintendent W. _M. Marr was present for the meeting and spoke on the bond issue for new schools which comes up soon. Another ^s- itor was Rev. Lienbach, of Car lyle, Pa., fonnerly of this city, who spoke on “Recent Growth of High Point.” Blr. Lienbach complimtented the Ray street association for the progress it has made in such a short time. , „ . 1 Mrs. Lillian Hayman’s first grade won the attendance prize, a picture of Robert E. Lee and Traveler. The association ^vill hold only one more meeting during the preseitt term, the one in May, at which time officers will be elected.
