The High Point high school girls’ baseball team captured the championship for this district by defeating the teams from Salis bury, Winston-Salem and Trinity. Of the six games played only one was lost, and that was to Salisbury by the score of 9 to 11. On one occasion, the W-S team was played to an 8 to 8 tie. This same team, however, was defeated by High Point twice. While opponents were scoring 69 runs, the locals totaled 92. Of this number, Dorothy Fritz scored the most, making a total of 15 runs during the season. Follow ing closely behind her was Annie Laurie Foxworth with 12. Johnsle Surratt was next, having 10 runs to her credit. This is the most successful year the locals have had. Much credit for this season is due to Miss Bevie Wilson, coach. The Juniors were second with 85 points, the Seniors came third and the Freshmen last. The Sophomores captured first place by winning twelve first places out of twenty-four events. Sizemore, sophomore, was high scorer for the meet with 24 points made by winning four first places and one second.
