SECTION 2D LOSES TO
2C WEDNESDAY, 10-4
Locals Defeat Salisbury, Trinity
and Winston; Won 5 Out of 6;
Dot Fritz Stars.
The High Point high school
girls’ baseball team captured the
championship for this district by
defeating the teams from Salis
bury, Winston-Salem and Trinity.
Of the six games played only one
was lost, and that was to Salisbury
by the score of 9 to 11. On one
occasion, the W-S team was played
to an 8 to 8 tie. This same team,
however, was defeated by High
Point twice. While opponents were
scoring 69 runs, the locals totaled
92. Of this number, Dorothy Fritz
scored the most, making a total of
15 runs during the season. Follow
ing closely behind her was Annie
Laurie Foxworth with 12. Johnsle
Surratt was next, having 10 runs
to her credit.
This is the most successful year
the locals have had. Much credit
for this season is due to Miss Bevie
Wilson, coach.

The Sophomores won the inter
class track and field meet Friday
afternoon with a score of 102
points. The Juniors were second
with 85 points, the Seniors came
third and the Freshmen last. The
Sophomores captured first place
by winning twelve first places out of
twenty-four events. Sizemore,
sophomore, was high scorer for
the meet with 24 points made by
winning four first places and one
second.

The speaker said that there is
only one guild building left. The
artisans there are well known for
their work, and they have won
especial fame for their sculptoring.
Some other lamous men as etchers,
who Illustrate books, also dwell
there, Mr. Kirkman said in closing
the description of this little village
where the true old England Is seen.
Hl-Y BOYS PLAN TRIP
TO CUBA THIS YEAR

Last year the party numbered
forty and the trip carried them to
Canada. Approximately forty have
expressed a desire to go this year,
but it Is said that the number will
probably be limited to about thirty.
Air. Hartley will act as adviser, and
members of the Hi-Y club and
others passed on by the arrange
ment wommlttee will be allowed
to go.
The Committee which has been
working on the trip and which
has completed the schedule for
part of the trip, is composed of
David Parsons, C. L. Gray, and
Carl White Jones.

slow baseball game. The play was

"Bud’’ Gurley’s pentathlon team
won from Moffitt team with a total
of 4,130 points in the pentathlon
contest. Moffitt was high scorer
with 350 points while Gurley led
his side and came second with 305
