ture furnished by courtesy of the Salisbury Evening Post and E. Mcllevaine, sports editor, tells the story
of how High Point’s defensive work held the Salisbury eleven to six points. The same vigor shown

Jamestown High School soc
cer team trampled the Bison
soccer team 4-0 yesterday af
ternoon. This is the second vic
tory for the Jamestonians over
High Point this year.
The defeat yesterday puts
High Point out of the running
for the county championship.
This virtually concedes the
championship to Jamestown.
The Jamestown hoofers scor
ed twice dluring the first quar
ter and again they tallied two
points when they ran wild in
the fourth quarter. The Bison
team was unable to hold back
the Jamestown eleven as they
smashed through for their vic
tory. High Point lost its only
chance for scoring when a pen
alty kick by High Point hit the
top bar on the goal post.
Girls’ and Boys’ Intramural Sports
Thursday afternoon the intra
mural sports program got under
way among the girls by soccer
games between the different home
room teams. Due to the fact that
the lists of teams from each home
room* have nt been turned in to
Miss Stallings, a schedule has not
yet been completed. It is urgent
that this list of teams be handed
in imediately in order to prevent
mfurther delay of this program.
A copy of the schedule will be
posted on the bulletin board in
each home room. Every girl who
has signed to be a member of a
team is urged to attend all he soc
cer practices. Provision has been
mad for sophomores to practice
on Mondays and Wednesdays and
for Juniors and Seniors to prac
tice on Tuesdays and Thursdays.
Extra points will be given toward
the intramural school letter, for
members of the team being on
time and ready to play at the
designated place. Miss Stallings
also urges those girls who have
not yet signed for soccer to do so
before the regular schedule is
Sports To Date
The Intramural Football sports
season is now in full swing. When
on Monday afternoon the season
opened and the first two teams
met on the field of conquest they
were both confident. However
there must be some one to lose
and it was on Monday room 310.
They bowed to room" 313 12-0. It
was a close contest but room 313
had the edge. The other game for
Monday was between rooms 207
and 202. After a hard fight room
202 won the score 12-0. Tuesday
room 308 met 311. Boy oh boy,
here was a game. A lot of pac
ing was tried on both sides but
in the end 208 emerged victorious
by a score of 12-0. Also on Tues
day room 203 met the combined
teams of rooms 303 and 201A.
They had a hard fight too but
room 203 finally downed their

“Our” Bisons have won two in
a row now and are going to Char
lotte Friday nigh to struggle (not
in vain) for their third victory.
Wiould you think that the Bison
have outscored their opponents
this year?? The statistics show
that the Bison have scored ninety-
three points to their opponents
The reports are, that the Bi
son, although they have won but
three games, have been outplay
ing their opponents this year.
Let’s give them all the support
that we can muster.
High Point High School’s “Little
Bison” traveled to Thomasville,
Monday afternoon only to meet
defeat at the hands of the “Little
Tommies” by the score of 6-0.
After battling the first half
with neither team scoring, Thom
asville came back in the third
quarter to take advantage of a
block punt, which they recovered
on High Point’s one yard line.
After holding for three downs,
the Bison defense weakened and
Harrington of the Tommies went
over for the only marker of the
game. “Blimp” Bencini High
Point’s 200 pound tackle, broke
through and blocked Hansell’s try
for the extra point.
High Point’s only threat came
early in the first quarter. After
an exchange of punts. High Point
drove to the Chairmaker’s ten-
yard line, only to have their of
fense bogged down.
Soccer Team Wins

the county championship games,
winnig over Guilford High 1-0,
The Bison charged up and down
the field for four quarter unable
to make a score. Two more quar
ters were played for dicision to
this important game.
Both teams in these last two
quarters had the chance of a pen
alty kick. High Point made a
goal, but Gulford failed to score
making the game 1-0. H. Hedrick
kicked the goal.
The Gilford coach said that
High Point played a fine game
and he hoped that the Bison would
win over Jamestown.

The Bisons having won two
games in a row, are being picked
by the experts as victors. How
ever if the Bisons should lose this
game, it would have no effect on
the Western Conference situation,
for Charlotte pulled out of the
conference last year.
This is the fifth non-conference
game of the year—the Bison
have won two and lost two—so
they are going to try to end up
in the upper half of the race.
The Charlotte team is one of the
most powerful teams in the state.
This being the fact the Bison will
probably have to use their famous
bag of tricks. Coaches Scott and
Stephens have stressed the use of
deception and passing against

son will take to the air route!
