MANY FORFEITURES MARK 2ND WEEK OF INTRAMURAL SPORTS Many Teams Both Girls’ And Boys’ Fail To Show Up For Scheduled Games Intramural tag football is in its second week. It is providing plenty of topic for argument and discussion. Last week when the program began all the teams were dark horses but now with the victo ries and defeats that all games bring about some teams have the edge on their opponents. Which team has the edge can’t be determined except by an ex pert and as we have but one expert in the POINTER staff and his services are not available. You will have to pick your own winners. A lot of the games that have been scheduled have been lost on forfeits. The failure of teams to have a sufficient number of men to play will cause a forfeit. When both of the teams sche duled to play fail to report it is a double forfeit and it counts a defeat for each team. These games are not played over. For feited games ^re presumed to be lost by a score of 12-0. Games played last week after the POINTER went to press were: 106 & 210 won from 306 &103 on a forfeited score of 12- 0. Also 314 & 212 were supposed to meet 209-309 but the game was a double forfeit. Thursday 302 got their game over 205 & 101 on a 12-0 forfeit. Also on Thursday 105 & 313 defeated 206 after a close game with the score 6-0. On Friday 306 & 103 were supposed to play 313, but the game was a double forfeit. 106 & 210 were scheduled to play 206 Friday but this too was a double forfeit. There were no games Monday of this week but Tuesday 206 got a 12-0 forfeit over 301. 106 & 210 won a for feited score of 12-0 over 306 ? 103. Another forfeit that after noon was 314 over 310, score 12-0. Room 310 is the only home room that has been victorious so far in the girls’ intramural soc cer contests. Rooms 304 and 103 have fought to a draw, and rooms 301 and 302 failed to mus ter enough players to oppose 304 and 203. Room 310 trounced room 308 by the score of 3-0. Playing for room 310 were: Virginia Sny- BISON ELEVEN UPSETS FAVORED CAT SQUAD The Black Bisons defeated the Wildcats of Charlotte with the close score of 7 to 6 last Friday night. Charlotte was picked by most experts to beat High Point with a pushover score, because they outweighed the Bisons, and Charlotte was play ing on their home field. There was no score during the first half. In the third quarter Kale of Charlotte went over the goal line to score. Charlotte failed to convert the extra point. A few minutes la ter Hacks threw a pass to Sinclair Homey, who ran over Charlotte’s goal line. Hussy with his “educated toe’’ kicked Sports To Date By CLIFTON OVERCASH der, M. Sechrest, Adele Shef field, Ruth Lain, Hilda Jackson, Earldine Patterson, Reba Lloyd, Doris McKinney, Myra Lowder, June Phillips, and Ernestine Hed rick. They were victorious over room 308 who had the following girls playing on its team: Doris Culler, Mary L. Hasty, Margar et Foust, Jo Ingram, Virginia Hunt, Sarah Hutchins, Iline Cal loway, Anna Lee Hicks, Bessie L. Creech, Constance Willis, and Juanita Coppedge. Players for room 304 were: Marjorie Pegram, Irma Siceloff, Rachel Conrad, Maud Carraway, Rosy Redman, Betsy Yow, Mary E. Lindsay, Jaunita Thayer, Caroline Gregory, Lillian Ashly, and Janie Wilson. Those who played for room 103 and fought 304 to a 0-0 score were: Mar garet Cheeves, Pearl Kinney, Gertrude Caudle, Ruth Wright, Marie Snyder, Ophelia Saltz, Iris Floyd, Francis Thigpen, Francis Brown, Barbara Math- ewes, and Sadie Witley. Since some homerooms do not have enough girls to play as an individual team, several home rooms have been combined. For complete schedule and for team combinations see the bulletin boards in your homeroom. Well, well—who could have ever thought that this sports writer would, with the little ex perience that he has, predict successfully two games in a row? With all the talk going around that the Charlotte game was an upset, don’t say that I didn’t warn you in advance that if our team started at the sound of the whistle to play the brand of football that they were cap able of playing, that they would take that game. It certainly did look funny, our little players, weighing about a hundred sixty pounds apiece pushing those “trucks’’ around. Our “boys,” if they don’t watch their step, will be eating their banquet meal, preceded by a de feat! Gastonia is pointing for this game, they have already lost two conference games this year, and if "our boys are too “cocky,” they will probably win their first game. Overlooking the fact that our (Continued on Page Four) Pause... Refresh LITTLE BISONS TROUNCED 19-0 High Point’s “Little Bisons” continued their losing ways last Thursday, by losing to Greens boro’s Reserves by the score of the game. Greensboro’s first tally came late in the first quarter when one of the Purple Whirlwind’s lines man broke through and partially blocked one of Evan’s passes, and another intercepted it for a touchdown. The second score also came from a pass interception early in the second period, with Cobb, a Greensboro halfback, doing the intercepting and running thirty yards to pay dirt. Petree made the final marker of the game by circling his right end for eighty yards and a touchdown. He also kicked the extra point. In the second half neither of fense could get rolling. Victorious over Lexington and Salisbury and the smashing up set which they handed the Wild cats of Charlotte, the Bison will clash with the Green Wave from Gastonia to-night on the college stadium field at 8: o’clock. The Bison, at last have found a team that they are on par with. In all. the preceding games they have been the under-dogs. With the defeat that they handed Charlotte—they come out this week—the favorite team. This game will determine whether the Bison will remain in the running for state laurels. The Bison have won one conference tilt and lost one. The victorious Bison have been polishing their mighty and decep tive offense for this game. Coaches Scott and Stevens are worried about their charges go ing on to the field too sure of victory. All the Bison players are in good condition. Speas will pro bably be back at his old post at center. The Bison playing a team which will be no heavier than themselves, will use power, speed, and deception, where against larger teams they have been us ing speed and deception alone. Hucks and T. Homey will again carry the brunt of the Bison at tack. BEAT GASTONIA! Beat the Green Wave! Where Students Are Welcome ANDERSON W.
