Paffe' Ft)ur THE POINTER March 1, 1949 Making Handbooks While the Sun Shines JlpJtBeaded Qaod AleujJi^lpodi In a recent editorial published in “Facts and Fun”, Thomas- ville’s high school paper, the Friendly Relations Committee of H.P.H.S. was highly com plimented on its outstanding work in the promotion of better relations among schools with which High Point High comes in contact. This committee, headed by Barbara Dillon, is responsible for writing letters to schools throughout the state inviting their students to attend the athletic games which are played here. After each game, letters are also written expressing our pleasure in having played the opposing team and our antici pation of future games. Stamp Collectors Club Organized Under the leadership of Mias Elizabeth Lindsay a stamp club has recently been organized here. The objectives of this club, which meets each Wednesday afternoon in Room 314, are to meet new people and to trade stamps. Miss Lindsay, who recent ly became interested in collecting stamps, suggested that the club be organized. The ten members of the group elected the following officers: Harold Schwab, president; Van Workman, secretary; and Bobby Padgett, treasurer. Other members are Rosie Beam, Bob Allred, Van Boyles, Charles Shufelt, Chad Rogers, and Pete Walker. It's good to have money and the things that money can buy, but it’s good too to check up once in a while and make sure you haven’t lost the things money can’t buy. —George Horace Lorimer. The prime objective of the club is service to the school; therefore much time is spent working on projects. Having just completed work on their most important project of the year, the High School Directory, they have begun work on another. Under the direc tion of Don Martin several mem bers of the club have been working on Saturdays on the faculty park ing lot back of the school building. All members of the faculty will be assigned parking spaces and their names or home room mnnbers will be placed on them. BROWNES SHOE SHOP Quality Shoe Repairing PHONE 4313 The Key Club holds a meeting each week at the Asia Restaurant where club business is carried on. Most of these meetings are at tended by a member of the spon soring institution, the Kiwanis Club. In turn a member of the Key Club is present at the Ki wanis luncheon held every Friday at the Sheraton. The program usually includes a speaker on some subject of interest to club members. Key Club handbooks plus stamps plus mailboxes equal a hard job completed. The Key Clubbers above testify to that. Left to right, seated are Hey- wood.
