SCHOLARSHIP WINNERS DICKSON FOUNDATION TEXTILE SCHOLARS NURSING SCHOLARS CHARLES B. LEFLER. JR. Charles B. Lefler, Jr., a gradu ate of the Albemarle Senior High School has been awarded a Dickson Foundation Scholar ship to the N. C. State Universi ty School of Textiles. Charles is the son of Mr. & Mrs. Charles B. LeHer, Sr. of 1640 East Main St., Albemarle, N. C. He is a mem ber of First Lutheran Church. He was president of Luther League at church, an Eagle Scout and a member of Order of Arrow. MELVIN D. WHITLEY Melvin D. Whitley, a graduate of West Stanly High School has been awarded a Dickson Foun dation Scholarship to the N. C. State University School of Tex tiles. Melvin is the son of Mr. & Mrs. Harley G. Whitley of Route 4, Albemarle, N. C. He attends Pleasant Grove Baptist Church. LINDA LUCAS Miss Linda Lucas, 17, daughter of Mrs. John L. Lucas and the late Mr. Lucas is the recipient of a Dickson Foundation Scholarship for a three - year course in nursing at Presbyteri an Hospital, Charlotte. Miss Lucas, who was captain of the Albemarle Senior High basketball team this year, had already been accepted by the school of nursing and will enter in September. Miss Lucas played basketball for four years and received the Madge Gaskin Athletic Award. A member of First Baptist Church, she is a resident of 124 James Street, Albemarle. PATRICIA ANN HARTSOE A graduate of Maiden High School, Maiden, N. C., has been awarded a Dickson Foundation Scholarship to Gaston Memorial School of Nursing in Gastonia, N. C. She is the daughter of Alvin Hartsoe and Myrtle P. Hartsoe of Route #1, Newton, N. C. Patricia was on the annual and newspaper staff, a member of FHA Club, Science Club, and Camera Club. She also was on J. V. Basketball Team and a School Bus Driver.
