The Braille Magazine Report
was indeed impressive. There were
291 copies published at a cost of
80 cents each or $938.00 for the
year past; of this amount $358.65
had been contributed by Federated
Club Women of North Carolina.
The postage for mailing these mag
azines is paid by the Government.
Mrs. Merrick feels that the work
and reports of no club is complete
without a contribution each year
to the Braille Magazine.
The report called attention to
free eye tests available in the
state, and we were advised to
watch papers of notice of these in
our community and take advantage
of the same.
The report also called these facts
to our attention. A new school is
in the making for White Blind
people in Wilson, N. C. There is
now a school for the Blind in Ra
leigh and a separate school for
Deaf and Dumb at Morganton,
while the state has only one Negro
school for Deaf-Dumb and Blind
combined. The questions we asked
—Is this Justice? What can club
women Do?
A PRAYER FOR THE
UNITED NATIONS
God of the Nations and Father
of all peoples; Who art our refuge
and strength in time of trouble;
Who dost give us the power to
direct, under Thy guidance, our
destiny in these perilous days.
In Thy great mercy bless the
United Nations in all its work.
Guide the leaders who, while
strengthening the bodies of little
children and wiping out the
ravages of war, build a more
abundant life for all people every
where. Consecrate the efforts of
those who patiently struggle to
establish peace with justice and
effect the healing of the Nations.
Deliver us all from self-right
eousness and pride. Grant that
principle and not power be the
basis of decisions among the
family of Nations; that compas
sion and concern for the welfare of
all Thy children be at the center
of all United Nations deliberations.
Inspire all peoples, we beseech
Thee, to do justly, love mercy,
and walk humbly with Thee.
Amen.
