E. Regional Holds 24th Biennial In Durham, N. C. The N. C. F. of N. W. Clubs was host to the Southeastern Regional Association July 29- August 1, 1967. The meeting was held in the Jack Tar Hotel and Motor Lodge of Durham, N. C., where its delegates were also housed during their stay in the city. Representatives from Alabama, Florida, Geor gia, Mississippi, North Caro lina, South Carolina, Tennessee and Virginia made up the dtele- gation which was presided over by President, Mrs. A. B. Bolen of Fort Pierce, Florida. The theme of : the meeting was “Clubwoman’s R e sponsibility For a Beautiful America”. The delegation was guest on Sunday morning at St. Joseph A. M. E. Church of which Rev. P. R. Cousin is minister. The main session of>ened formally with a mass meeting on Sun day evening at six o’clock at which time welcomes were giv en by representatives of the state and city and music was rendered by the St. Mark A. M. E. Zion choir. The guest speaker for the evening was Dr. Rose Butler Brown of N. C. College. Another outstanding feature of the meeting was the Press Breakfast held in the Washing ton Duke Room on Monday morning. The theme of the con vention from the viewpoint of “Aid from the News Media” as discussed in a question and answer form by Mo(terator John R. Larkins and represen tatives from the several city newspapers. Besides the several informative and interesting business sessions; the work shop, the exhibits, the ladies enjoyed a bus tour of Durham and Raleigh, N. C. This tour included a visit to the lovely building of the North Carolina Mutual Life Insurance Com pany. Here we were greeted by President Asa T. Spaulding and given a guided tour of the Plant. Another special feature of the tour was a guided visit over the IBM Research Triangle Park Institute. This is a 500 acre research plant under the direction of U. S. Department of Health, Education and Wel fare. ’The Youth Department pre sented a very eryoyable Talent and Fashion Show after which the host-youth sponsored an evening of dance in the Uni versity Ball Room. The closing feature of the session was the Awards Ban quet which featured the presi dent’s address by Mrs. A. B. Bolen; the Parade of States, and the presentation of awards and trophies.
