MIRROR MEDITATION By EAAMITT L. BRINSON Out there In the Infinite depths of space and time moves a con trolling spirit. To some, look ing at all their sight might record, there appears chaos. But If we for a moment grasp this wonder as order In time, It becomes beautifully drama tic. There Is rhythm and timing and measure in all of exist ence as perfect and as In time as a well played symphony. This is found throughout all of crea tion from the largest to the smallest, most minute particles of matter and life. The energy behind matter and life channels itself by prede termined duties Into definite units and In return dissolves into measured pulsations of ra diation. There Is definite evi dence of design and architec ture In all there Is. The same atomic structures are repeated everywhere, and as climate permits, there Is every reason to believe life is the same elsewhere in space as we see it li^t here on this infinitesimal globe. Everywhere this spirit of na ture Is at work. Galaxies are WONDERLAND .... Each year at Week! Wachee, Fla., mer maids stage an entirely new show in the depths of Florida’s Under water Grand Canyon. Within them, stars are born, great furnaces of cosmic energy dissolve as radiation in their seasons. Around some of these stars we find satellites; the offspring of stars running their course within the larger system. They ml^t seem Insignificant beside the shining parent, but It is in these that the parent be comes part of a mysterious drama. It is within the history of these fragments of stars that life i^ipears; and in due time, mind and life become aware of the course of nature, of Its travels, and can peer Into the mysteries of all this law and order of which it and we are a parL It is a great mistake for mo dernists to substitute science lor religlcHi lor they are branded as intellectually Im mature. Nor can religion still view the universe in an anti quated science. To do so they become calloused and Ignorant. In all this advance we must take another look at the Crea tor. We must understand Him as immeasurablelnageortime, that His purpose and plan are endless, forever growing, going forward. We should not cringe at evo lution, It is but a different point of view. Evolution is but a description of God at work in His infinite, creative pro cesses. We need to think of God in new terms. We need to think of God as pervasive energy, an ever pre sent universal mind, encom passing everything. Oh, the in finite complexity of God’s cre- ativenessl Like light, God’s presence breaks differently with the character of the prism; like chemical energy it gives rise to new properties, new individuals in creative syn thesis of our finite activities with His life. The total life situation counts the precipitation of our love Into His love. God Is Incar nated, reborn differently under different conditions “Life like a dome of many colored glass, stains the white radiance of eternity.” It Is not only In the match less personality of Galilee that God is Incarnated; but God is incarnated in a unique way wherever there Is new birth In goodness and beauty. Every true religious experience, one feels God. God does not repeat himself In human relations any more than he repeats himself in peo ple, or snowflakes, or blades of grass, or sunsets, or the play of shadows on the moun tains. The external setting is the body of the occasion and cannot be divorced from the inner grace of spirit. God has all seasons for His own. His crea tive loyalty Is the same, but His gifts differ with the oc casion. So shall we find Him everywhere. Ah, yes. There Is controlling spirit in the infinite depths of space and time.
