Orion Samuelson, well-known WGN-TV farm broadcaster, will re veal that selection in a program video taped for television on his “U.S. Farm Report” which is carried by a network of 95 TV stations and 4,200 cable systems. On March 19 the first “Miss Agri culture” will fly to Washington, D.C. to take part in National Agriculture Day ceremonies the following day. She’ll join Secretary of Agriculture John Block as a guest at a National Press Club luncheon and be featured at a reception in her honor at the U.S. Department of Agriculture. May Be at White House The national titleholder also will join Block and other dignitaries at a National Ag Day reception for 400- 500 people in the USDA patio or at the White House. The Washington committee also hopes to have Miss Agriculture “help” President Reagan sign a proclamation recognuing March 20 as National Agriculture Day. All 10 finalists in the competition are being invited to take part in Na tional Ag Day festivities in the na tion’s capital. But the Miss Agricul ture Program can pay only for the national titleholder’s expenses. Then Miss Agriculture will begin a year-long position as a spokeswoman for agriculture. She’ll start with an orientation period on farms, ranches and at agri-businesses and travel across the .country, promoting all phases of America’s No. I industry. “We’re already receiving requests for ‘Miss Agriculture’s’ appearance as a speaker—some as far as a year in advance—and we have made some commitments,” says Jill Nickerson, coordinator of the program.
