Party & Awards’ Day The Summer Reading Game Party and Awards’ Day was held at the Vanceboro-Craven County Public Library last Wednesday. Regional Children’s librarian, Mary Delamar, presented prices to the children who read and reported on the most books during July in grades kindergarten through sixth. The winners o* the Summer Reading Game were as follows: Kindergarten - Kelly Moore (20 books); Grade 1 - Brandy Simpkins (15 books): Grade 2- Karen Woolard (44 books): Grade 3 - Angela Bryant (115 books): Grade 4 - Beth Johnson (60 books); Grade 6 - Delores Small (192 books). Certificates were presented to the youngsters who read 10 or more books during July. In addition to the winners of the game they were as follows: Brian Spear, Emma Thomas, Robert Beaman, Sandy Wright, Susan Malan, Brenda Koehler, Jennifer Lochlair, Kristen Moore, Bobby Johnson, Casey Caldwell, Kristy Malan. After the certificates and prizes were given out refreshments were served outside of the library. They consisted of cupcakes, potato chips, and lemonade. All of the boys and girls who entered the reading game worked very hard turning in book reports and reading. The Vanceboro- Craven County Library Staff congratulates them! Reading Game Winners Cove City-Craven County Public Library The winners of the summer reading game at the Cove City- Craven County Public Library are as follows: Robyn Demoret, Kim Collins, Jayne Jolley, Lori Demoret and Nicole Brown. A book containing all of the Carolina drawings of John White has been published. The volume is edited' by Paul Hulton, retired keeper of the Department of Prints and Drawings in the British Museum. Jan Mann and her husband, owners of the Wildflower Pottery in Godwin, NC were commissioned by the 400th Anniversary Committee to reproduce Indian eating and drinking vessels of the time. The collection includes jugs, bowls and pancheons (plates). The pottery is on loan from the UNC Sea Grant. In addition, a few Indian artifacts found in Pamlico County will be on display courtesy of Thelma Bennett of Arapahoe and Nancy and Freda Winfree and David and Georgia Peacock of Bayboro. The New Bernian Collection and Navajo baskets will also be shown on loan from Mr. and Mrs. William Kellum.
