Page 4, West Craven Highlights, August 30. 1984 Sharing Good News By DOROTHY FILLINGAME Last week we talked about how the Bible, the Word of God came into being; written by men of God as they were moved by the Holy Ghost. It is the Word of God and not the word of any man. From the very first sentence in Genesis, "In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth," to the last Amen in Revelation, the Word of God is Truth and Life. It is all that any man needs to live by. The Word of God needs nothing added to it, it has already been said. Neither does it allow for any part to be taken away from it. The Word of God is whole and complete. The apostle Paul warned the Church about following after the doctrine and commandments of men. He tells us to "touch not; taste not; handle not; which all are to perish with the using.” Colossians 2:20-23. So many are following after the revelations of men. doctrine and ordinances set up by men that have not been moved by the Holy Ghost, the Spirit of God. Jesus Christ, the Son of God told the devil in the wilderness that. “It is written, man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceedeth out of the mouth of God." When men live and walk after anything other than the true Word of God, then Jesus will say to them at the end of the way, "I never knew you; deparf from me, ye that work iniquity.” Know the Word of God and let it guide and teach you. Why Are You Fearful ? By REBA MITCHELL Along the pathway of life, masses of people are fearful. Why are they afraid? Why are you afraid? Why should anyone be afraid? The Bible teaches perfect love casts out all fear. Jesus Is love. He is perfect. If we love Him and keep His commandments. He will abide with us, and make us free. John 8:26-36. Genesis 3:10 Adam was afraid because he broke God's commandment. That is a good example to show. It's important to be obedient to Vanceboro Pentecostal Holiness Church The service was great Sunday night, even though we were few in number due to many of our congregation attending camp meeting at Pine Grove. We had a birthday party following the worship service in the fellowship hall honoring the birthdays for the month of August. Lee Waters, Sammy Boyd and Linda Smith were the ones honored. We enjoyed the fellowship and refreshments of birthday cake and soft drinks. our Lord and Savior. Matt. 8:23-26 The disciples were afraid. They were looking at the acts of the storm, even thus far they had not been harmed. The great peace maker was on board—all they had to do was call Him and He rebuked the storm. They did not realize He could keep them through the storm just as He did Daniel in the Lion’s den and the Children of Israel in the firey furnace. Continued next week.
