Page 16, West Craven Highlights, October 11,1984 Fort Barnweli Bulletin By MRS. B.H. MITCHELL The pastor, officers and members of St. John A.M.E. Zion Church invite the people of Fort Barnwell and surrounding areas to share in a week’s meeting. The meeting will begin October 15 on Monday night and a different speaker will be in charge 7:30 each night. Gospel music will be provided also. The program is sponsored by Rev. Claude Davis for the benefit of the Church. Rev. Davis is host pastor. * * * There will be quarterly meeting and homecoming at Mt. Zion United Christian Church on Sunday. The morning message will be delivered by Rev. Moses, and the senior choir will be in charge of the music. Afternoon services will be rendered by Rev. W.K. Raynor and his choir and congregation of the First Baptist Church of Kinston, N.C. Everyone is cordially invited to attend. * • * Cool days and cool nights have arrived in our community and people have started making fires. Along with cool ^weather, hres often destroy homes and other property. In the past week, a fire destroyed the trailer home of Mrs. Norma J. Battle and family. The family lost everything in the fire. • • * Fort Barnwell Corinth Missionary Baptist Church lost their pastor. Rev. Johnny James, who wasfuneralized on Saturday. The sad loss has caused many to feel that a great worker will be missed for his kind deeds done in the community. Carolina Telephone Business Office To move Effective with the close of business at 5:00 p.m. on Friday, October 19, 1984, Carolina Telephone and Telegraph Company will move its Business Office and payment collection location from 311 Hancock Street to 4000 Hwy 17 South in New Bern. The office will reopen for business on Monday, October 22, 1984 at 9:00 a.m. in its new location, according to W.C. Thomas, district commercial manager. Dover & Cove City Allocated Powell Bill Funds The municipality of Dover in Craven County will receive an allocation of $10,066.39 in Powell Bill funds. This allocation is based on the community’s population of 620 and its 2.42 miles of local streets. The municipality of Cove City in Craven County will receive an allocation of 8,951.04 in Powell Bill Funds. This allocation is based on the community’s population of 533 and its 2.42 miles of unpaved streets. Both of these communities are located in the Western part of Craven County. They are both very progressive and their citizens take great pride in the communities. Area News Bits The Craven County Council on Aging is having an "OCTOBERFEST" on October 24, 1984 starting at 10:00 a.m. and continuing through the afternoon. Everyone planning to attend is asked to bring a Covered Dish. There will be Fun and Games for all on the Council on Aging Grounds 2501 Trent Rd., New Bern, NC. Techniques In "Ultrasuede Sewing” Learn ’n Lunch On Wednesday, October 17, 1984 from 12:00 noon to 1:00 p.m. the Craven County Agricultural Extension Service will feature ’’Techniques in Ultrasuede Sewing" Learn ’n Lunch at the Extension Office. Bring a bag lunch and w^ provide the beverage. Call^ft 1478 to register. "Ultrasuede Sewing Class” On Tuesday, October 16, 1984 from 7:00 p.m. - 8:30 p.m. the Craven County Agricul tural Extension Service will feature an ’’Ultrasuede Sewing Class" at the Extension Office. Enjoy learning the latest techniques used when working with ultrasuede and bring any questions or problems you’ve had in the past. Call 633-1478 to register.
