PAGE 4 - WEST CRAVEN HIGHUGHTS - JUNE 18,1988 Along The Pathway Along the pathway of life, Fathers’ Day is here upon us again. Father, or Dad, whichever you choose to call him, is a very special person in the home. Some children think of Dad as the protecting force in the home. They count on him and turn to him when the going gets rough. There are many times when children need someone to do repairs on special toys, bikes and others. Many times children think Dad is just the guy they need. 1 have heard some children say, “My Dad can do anything." Dad, your child is watching you. Many times they think anything Dad does is all right. Children often try to imitate things they see Dad do. Dad, it pays to watch everything you do, for you may see it rehearsed by your children. Will you be proud to see your child follow the same lifestyle you have followed? If not, now is the time to change things you prefer your children not to do. Dad, your children need you. It is up to you to help your children to be the man or woman that you can be proud of. It will make you proud when your children look up and say, "Dad, I love you and I am proud of you. Dad, you are the greatest Dad a child could have.” Dad, if you want your children to grow up to be the people you’ll be proud of, teach them the right way to live and prac tice your teachings at all times. Proverbs 4 is a good chapter for a father’s instructions. Don’t stop there; we need all of God’s word. We need to teach it and live it 365 days a year. Children, don’t forget there is a very important part for you. Even if you are the grown-up child of your parents. ’The word plainly tells us to honor our fathers and mothers. It is wonder ful to have a special day set aside to honor them, but let’s remember to honor them in words and deeds the other 364 days of the year. Happy Falbera* Day To Every Dad Dads, you are all special, with a special role to play in life. Dad, we may often fail to say just three very simple great words. But Dad, to you on your day our thoughts to you do turn. From the depths of our hearts we wish to say we love you. Happy Fathers’ Day to you. Dad, happy Fathers’ Day to you. May this day be the beginning of an exciting role as Dad, As you and your children look to the future together. Dad, you are a very special person to that son or daughter. May this day be the greatest you ever had as a Dad. Happy Fathers’ Day to every Dad, everywhere. Memories of Dad Dad, as time goes by, we miss you more and more. But we do hold many precious memories in store. Dad, you were a very special Dad to us all. So many things that we did, we often recall. Many times we’re lonely and long to see you. Many times we feel forsaken and blue. But Dad, we remember the God you served. And know for you a home He reserved. Dad, we remember how you prayed, ’That none of us would ever stray. ’Those memories give us courage to go on. Dad, we hope to meet you on that eternal dawn. — Reba W. With the lummer seasoni com es plenty or ftesh vegetables and fVesh fruit ’That makes summer a great time ror a special day to be reserved to honor someone spe- cail — such a “dear old Dad.” ’There are many great dishes to prepare tor ramily gatherings honoring Dad. Many times raml- lies that have home gardens often see Dad with an important role in preparing and cultivating the garden. Father’s Day is a good day to have some of those ravorites fresh from the garden he has helped plant and culti vate, or purchase produce from a rarmers’ market or other places that sell locally-grown produce. Dad will love it. Company pot roast with fresh vegetables, such as green beans of sweet peas, wity dessert made from ftesh fruit would be a wel come meal for a hungry Dad on Father’s Day, especially with all the family around to ei\joy the meal with him.
