The all-star volleyball team has been selected. The players are: Hirst, Rylander, Bass, Sanborn, Brooke, Hocutt, Moore, Hull, and Archer. Miss Ruth Holmes Scott’s pupils gave a studio recital on Tuesday afternoon, April 27. Those par ticipating were: Bmilj" McMillan, Alma Young, Elizabeth Shaw, Ann Phlegar, Carolyn Pemberton, and special students Nancy Hobbs and Dick MacGill. Betty Lou divided her program into three jiarts, the first of Avhieh was late 17th and early 18th century English music. The individual charm of the music by the compos ers, Purcell, Camidge, and Dupuis, was Avell brought out by her inter pretation and Avell conceived regis tration. Her second group was the Bach group, Avhicli she played ma jestically. Nancy Poe chose an expressHe, touching solo from Stabat Mater by Pergolesi and Hayden’s most fa mous oratorio aria, “With Verdure Clad” from The Creation, for tAvo of her selections. Both Avere beau tifully sung. For her third selec tion she sang Regina Coeli, Laetare! a joyous Easter song Avritten espe cially for this program by Russell Broughton. It Avas eminently Avell fitted to display Nancy’s talent. Betty Lou concluded her program in brilliant finale fashion Avith tAVO mildly modern French numbers. The “Menuet Gothique” from the Suite Gothique by Boellmann, in particular, Avas played Avitli much dash and assurance. The Avhole re cital was most enjoyable.
