Miss Peggy Hopkins attended an Alumnae meeting in Lynch burg on April 12, and is bringing back as her guest Miss Winifred Morrison, ’39. Bess Parker Banks, ex ’45 Bus., is joining the SPARS April 20 and will be stationed at Manhattan Beach, Brooklyn, New' York, for boot training. Bess hopes to be able to attend graduation here June 4. Lib Hines, Lib dinard, Nancy Hobbs, Peggy Abernathy, Athalia Alligood, Sarah Bain, and Anne Prothro, students of Donald Peery, gave a small Studio Piano Recital April 10. Ruth Jacobs, ex ’45, has left school to join the Cadet Nurse Corps. Virginia Wilson, Mary Arden Tucker, Nancy Wood, Bobby Jean Hardy, Caroline Long, Phyllis Cowdery, Ruth Gee Gay, Sidney Jones, Maria Gregory, Eleanor Thomas, Martha Stoney, Margaret Rodwell, Lucy Hancock, and Sal- lie Robertson are taking a course in Red Cross First Aid every Tues day and Thursday afternoon, under the supervision of Mrs. L. B. Naylor. Phyllis has been chosen president of this group, and Martha will act as secretary- treasurer. Miss Mary Ruth Haig’s piano recital was postponed in order to enable the students to attend An nette Fulton’s expression recital tonight. Jane Lee Parker, Ann Cutts, Alice Jones and Luzette Callum are going to the Chi Psi event. Clarice Woolard is going over to Wake Forest. Randolph Gardner and lots of other day-gals heard Tommy Tucker last Saturday night. Geet Thomp son is mighty happy lately because a certain “ship” has come in from the South Pacific. Tommie Cates doesn’t seem to be worried about the man situation. She had a date the other night and practically choked him—on candy.
