Former Teacher
Gives Violin Concert
At Saint Mary’s
Herbert Bird, violinist and for
mer teacher at Saint Mary’s, return
ed to give a concert in the audito
rium of Saint Mary’s Thursday
night, April 3. He was accompanied
at the piano by his wife, Ruth
Holmes Bird, also formerly of the
faculty.

president of the senior class next
year, and Elizabeth Burns, Fay

representatives to the Honor
Council, all chosen in an election
Wednesday, April 2.

were Mary Lou Pratt, Sumter,
S. C.; Sue Stowers, Bluetield, W.
Va.; and Xancy Holland, Frank
lin, Va.
As a Wilson high school senior
last year, Sarah was a cheer
leader, chairman of Junior-Senior
Dance Committee, Senior Superla
tive, and a member of the Xa-
tional Honor Society and the year
book staff. At Saint Mary’s, she
is junior Honor Council Repre
sentative and a Mu.
Elizabeth graduated from high ‘
school last year, where as a senior,
she was secretar.y of the Student
Council, secretary of the Beta
Club, and a member of the year
book staff' and the Tri-Hi-Y. This
year she is a hall representative
and a Mu and is in the Glee Club,
Political Science Club, and Grand
daughters’ Club.
Ann was a cheerleader, a mem
ber of the Letter Club, Tri-Hi-Y,
the yearbook staff', and was vice-
president of Lucky Thirteen in
Marietta high school last year.
Here she is a Mu cheerleader and
member of Woman’s Auxiliary.

next year as elected by the student
body of Saint Mary’s last week are
Helen Eppes, editor of the STAGE
COACH, Jane Gower, editor of the
BELLES, and Ann Lucas, editor of
the BULLETIhr.

Helen, from Henderson, was last
year in-esident of the sophomore class
at Saint Mary’s, a member of the
Legislative Body, ^Voman’s Auxil
iary, Granddaughters’ Club, and
worked on student publications as a
member of the business staff of the
STAGE COACH, and as a member
of the BELLES staff. Also Helen
was the manager of the bowling team
and a member of the Mu athletic
society. This year Helen is treas
urer of the junior class, vice-presi
dent of the ’Woman’s Auxiliary, and
works on publications.

Last year Jane graduated from
high school ^ in Greenville, South
Carolina. She was editor of the
Green rille High Aeu's, president of
the Boaid of Control of high school
publications, secretary of Quill and
Scroll, and vice-nresident of the
Block G athletic association. This
year Jane is a mendier of the Wom
an s Auxiliary, a Hall Representa
tive, and a Sigma.

years, in which time she has taken
an active part as a member of the

Freshmen, Sophomores To See
Moons, Moons and !More Moons
Moon nymphs and strains of
favorite “moon songs” will till the
gym Saturday night, April 12, at
the annual freshman-soiihomore
dance, given jointly each year by
the two classes.
Carrying out the theme “Jloon-
light Serenade,” the walls ivill be
dressed in murals depicting songs
such as “Moonlight Cocktail,”
“Carolina Moon,” “Moonlight
Serenade,” and “Shine On Harvest
Moon.” Guests will enter by doors
rimmed with blue ruffles, and sou
venir hunters will reach vainly
for the large gold moon which will
be the center of interest in a sky
of blue crepei paper.
High spot of the evening will be
the figure to take place at inter
mission, and in which the chair
men of ^ various committees and
class officers will participate.
Helping to make the freshman-
sophomore something to be re
membered are the committees
headed by Myrtle Alston, Hender-
son, decorations; Frances Drane,
Monroe, refreshments;' Iris Mc-
Ewen, Burlington, orchestra:
Aureha Fulton, Walnut Cove,
bids. Hal Thurston and libs or
chestra will furnish the music for
dancing “in the moon mist.” Re
freshments will be served, and at
midnight the dancers will reluc
tantly depart from “Moon Land.”
