The Fol lies reciuired a great deal of time and effort from every member of the senior class, but this produc tion enabled them to work together as a whole. The class unity and enthusiasm acquired through this jiroduction was well worth the time spent on it. The show was based on a tele vision station. Station SMU, which produced various programs and commercials of talent and humor. For the first time in the history of the Senior Follies every song had original words and every Senior and Senior Business Student par ticipated. Appreciation should be expressed to those students and faculty mem bers who were responsible for such a successful night and without whose help The Follies could not have been so outstanding. Those l)eople are; Miss Mabel Morrison, faculty advisor; Pat Sullivan, di rector; Fairfax Crow, i)roducer; Smiley Hubard, chairman of cos tumes; Lemma Baucom, accomjia- nist; Kathy Theobold, ])rogram chairman; Barbara Doar, sets; and Tonya Gamble, lights. KYxt to be thanked arc all the choreographers and girls who really jHit their hearts into the Follies of ’56. Wednesday night, Ajiril 11, will long be remembered as the night belonging to the Class of ’56 and everyone feels as though Memories Are Made of This. The best television programs for that night were seen on Channel 69 which had the api)roiu’iate slogan, “Watch Channel 69, the best in view.” Test Patterns came on at 8;00 featuring fifteen “lovelies” singing Memories. Next came “Your Hit Parade” starring the toj) six tunes of the week. The number 6 tune was Pm Gonna TFas/i That School Bight Outa My Hair” and Glenda Smith Gives Recital Glenda Smith, talented young j)ianist, gave her certificate recital in the St. IMary’s auditorium last Tuesday evening, Ajiril 2. She masterfully played selections com- jioscd by Bach, Debussey. and Chojiin. Each arrangement was played with such skill and ease that it was evident a great amount of time and jiractice had been given to the music. With beauty and jioise Glenda entertained her audience of St. Mary’s students, faculty, and many Raleigh visitors with a delightful evening of music. due credit should be given to Mary Parke Jones for her new red hair which was certainly all wet. Other top tunes included Pm Just A Girl Who Can’t Say No, Forget Your Troubles, Oh, They Built the Prison, Saint Mary’s and Old Shanty Town. The Top Tune of the Week was TFe Go to Church 1 wice on Sunday starring the high stepping marshals. At 9:00 “Groucho Foy” gave her plug for (or against) DeSoto. The smallest nicmbers of the ’56 class gave their TFord from Seven Lettle Seegars. On the fabulous show, “Monitor Views,” the class took their audience to such resorts as Raleigh, Hawaii, England, the Mountains, and South America. Comments, referring to the red head star of the latter, ran in the gen- 7.^1 of “Wow! What a Girl! The Late News Round-Up came on at 10:00. Everyone is still wondCTing whom the commentator, AIiss Betty Hunt Proctor, was imi tating. Ina Gee Ridley gave some ^und advice from the makers of Donald Duck Orange Juice in her strange voice which differed greatly from tho one used in her recent \oice recital. Everyone wonders which voice she’ll use in the South ampton Beauty Contest this week end.
