Saint’s Sallies
Second semester has begun and
so have fraternity parties, rush
parties, and dances. The week-end
of February 13, 14, and 15 proved
to be a big one for Carolina, Wake
Forest, Duke, and Davidson.
At Carolina Winter Germans
were held and as usual, many Saint
Mary’s Belles were there. Jane
Wright, Madge Gregory, Lojs
Lvnch, Sallie Alarcotte, Bonnie
Stone, Alargaret Turner, and
Nancy Sjostrom attended a Roman
party at the SAE House Friday
night. Saturday afternoon Chris
Conner was the featured attraction
at the concert, and everyone agreed
she was a great success. Sikkic
Sams, Lou Pittman, Anne Bost-
wick, Martha Ellen Miller, Bettie
Ann Whitehurst, Caroline Ashford,
kathy O’Lenic, Bea Foote, Bonnie
Brinser, .Jane Gray, Georgia Cobb,
and Joyce Batchelor all agreed the
concert was the best evei. Seen

The weekend of February 20, 21,
and 22 found Cinda Henderson,
Cathryn Potter, Emmy Davis, and
Dorothy Ewing at the University of
Virginia.
Jerry Lovelace and Ann Camp
bell were seen leaving for Notre
Dame’s lucious sweetheart week
end.

Amanda (Cameron) — means
“fit to be loved” in Latin.
Daphne (Connelly) mean
“laurel tree” and was the name of
the nymph whom Appollo loved
and who was turned into a bush. It
is said that the word “has not been
used as a name except for dogs”

Letitia (Gailbraith) — means

Aliss Anne Carter Lee, High
School graduate of St. Alai'y’s, was
honored on February 12 at Sweet
Briar College in Virginia. Dean
Alary J. Pearl named Aliss Lee as
one of the twenty-four first year
students on the Freshman Honor
List.
Eligibility for the Freshman
Honor List is based on a first
semester record consisting entirely
of B’s or with an average better
than B.
