Pam Wright Wins Part In Play Congratulations are in order for Pam Wright, a junior and member of St. Alary’s Dramatics Club, for being awarded the Raleigh Little Theater’s choice role of the current season. Try outs for parts in The Lark, by .Jean Anouilh, were held at The Little Theater on February 11 and 12. Pam was the unanimous choice of the casting committee as being the most ideally suited contestant to jilay the part of Joan of Arc. Rather than miss this opportun ity to jilay the jiart, Pam is willing to give uj) spring vacation. She comes to St. Alary s from Tuscal oosa, Alabama. The Lark will be })rescnted to the public during the week of Alarch 21-27; however, a special night for college students will be scheduled on ^londtiy cveningj March 28, in order that St. Alary’s students may attend. In an exciting race on Wednes day, Edith Alston was elected President of S. G. A. for 1960-61. An old girl, Edith Alston, is from Anniston, Ala. She has been an outstanding member of Or- chesis since coming to St. Alary’s and is a member of the Letter Club. As a Sophomore, Edith w’as not only jiresident of her class, but also president of the Beacon. This year she has lent her capabilities to the junior class as their treas urer. Two nominees for president of the Student Government were pre sented to the student body by the Nominating Committee on 'Tues day, February 23. These girls are Hannah Wright and Edith Alston. In addition to these, five girls were nominated from the floor: Ruth Bowles, Amelia A'ancy, Linda Ramsey, Carter AIcAlister, and Sojfhia Pike. Hannah, from Wilmington, at tended Rosemary Hall before coming to St. Alary’s this year. While there, she was active in class activities, being a marshal, a member of tbe Rules Commit tee, jiresident of her junior class, and, finally, president of the Stu dent Government. At St. Alary’s, Hannah is a member of the Granddaughters’ Club, the Young Women’s Christiap Association, Chairman of the Elections Com mittee, and vice-president of the Junior Class. She also wdll repre sent her class in the Alay Court. From Alarion, Amelia Abmcy came to St. Alary’s as a freshman three years ago. During her first two years, she \vas particularly active in sj)orts and became a member of the Letter Club. She was also a member of the A'oung Democrats’ Club, Y. W. C. A., and the Belles staff. As a junior, Amelia was elected to represent her class on the Honor Council. This year slie has also continued her mcmbershii) in the Dramatics Club. A member of the National Hon or Society at Landon H. S. in Jacksonville, Fla., Linda Ramsey is a new girl at St. Alary’s this year. Having gained valuable ex perience as secretary and vice- president of her high school Stu dent Council, Linda has served ably on the Legislative Body at St. Alary’s. She is also a member of the Choir, Glee Club, and the Y. W. C. A. Ruth Bowles hails from Kins ton and attended Grainger High School there. She was class editor for the annual and a member of the staff of the school paper, while taking i^art in many other school activities including being a cheer leader. This year, her first at St. Alary’s, Ruth is in the Dramatics Club, on the Belles staff, and is a Mu cheerleader. Active in athletics in high school, Carter AIcAlister has con tributed greatly to the athletic sjhrit since she came to St. Alary’s as a junior this year. Playing the same sports — basketball and hockey — she played in high school, Carter has been rervarded for her outstanding abilities by being made a member of the Let ter Club. Sho is also a member of the Choir, the Glee Club, the Dramatics did), and the Belles staff. Carter is from Winnetka, 111. Also a member of the Letter Club, Sophia Pike from Wake Forest is a new girl this year. In high school she was editor of the annual, vice-president of the Stu dent Council, secretary-treasurer of the Beta Club, and a member of the Monogram Club. This year 50i)hia is on the Stagecoach staff and is in the Dramatics Club. She will be in the Alay Court this year. Voting to select the new presi dent of the Student Government took jilace on AVednesday, Febru ary 24. Schedule For Spring Elections February 24—President of Student Goverment. The nominating Committee meets two days before each election, and nominations are heard from the floor the day before each election. Cards must be submitted to the Chairman of the Nominating Com mittee for nominations from the floor. Revoting, if necessary, will be held on the same day of the election unless it is a Friday elec tion, in which case revoting will be the following Alonday.
