This is the “Watchbird” watch ing you—at Chapel Hill, State, Duke or where ever St. Mary’s girls may choose to spend those precious weekends. After a summer of fun— and work for many—the football games and frat parties have once more attracted the St. Mary’s Belles. At the Zete House for a pledge party on September 30 were Car ter McAlister, Vicki Chubb, Eloise Horner, and Mary Moore. The next day it seems that near ly everyone took off for some party, and the destination of many was, as usual. Chapel Hill. Seen at Caro lina were Ann Dickson, Brandy McKinley, Nanne Chalgren, Jo Ann Rochow, Cynthia Anderson, Harriet Rogers, Sally Wright, and Mary Richard Chambers. While over at the Phi Delt House Chasie Allen, Coco Otley, Vicki Coxe, Erwin Parrott, Susan Keel, Ann Osterman, Hadley Morgan, and Sally Harper seemed to be hav ing a good time too. Not to forget the Pika House at “the Hill” which certainly had its share of St. Mary’s girls: Janet Dawson, Susan Poe, Jackie Baub- litz. Daphne Connelly, Nancy Heath, Becky Elmore, Anne Cam eron Bowman, Lila Wolfe, and G. G. Saunders. It was also the weekend of State’s Homecoming. After watch ing the parade as it passed down Hillsboro Street, many girls left for the State-Virginia game. Cheering State on to victory were Mary Daniel, Ashley Wade, Judy Mose ley, Mary P. Thomas, Cydne Wright, Anne Scott, Anne Sum mers, Vicki Chubb, Arden Fobes, Irene McGuirk, and many more. On to the SAE House for a com bo party with the “Jets” went Rosemary Adair, Johnel Popen- burger, Mary and Jo Shepard, Beth Freeman, Rowena Brinser, Mary Moore, Gay Davis, and Travette Jeanette. And there was still more party ing at the KA House as Robin Pleasants, Ellie Bair, Mary Jane Meacham, Pam Voliva, Priscilla Lyerly, Charlotte Thorne, and Bet sy Dunn will gladly tell you. The Raleigh Horse Show also was a big attraction last weekend for horse lovers of near and far. Taking in this exciting event were Molly Cooper, Jean Stromer, and Frances Tynes. Branchie Watson, a student at St. Mary’s last year, had an en gagement party in Wilson Saturday night. Among her friends who were there to help her celebrate were Muff Nabers, Joy Hicks, Ruth Bowles, and Betsy Eagles. Going even further for a week end of parties at Davidson were Edith Kellermann andi Martha Rose Lambeth. And traveling up to V. M. I. for a big weekend was Betty Gail Sandford who reports a very good time. On October 7 Julie Miller and Jane Harris will be two of the lucky girls going to Duke for the Four Freshmen concert. Another weekend and still more trips to Carolina for Dade Keyes, Jackie Polk, Joy Hicks, Muff Nabers, To ler Yates, Betty Lynch, ’ Ginger Speagle, Lover Dawson, Mary Myers, Susan Goode, Dade Wall, Barney Walker, Alary Moore, Hadley Morgan, Mary Marshall, Carter McAlister, Alary Richard Chambers, and Betsy Dunn who will all be yelling for Carolina in hopes of a victorious game against Notre Dame. Still more girls will be at the Carolina House this weekend, some of whom are Betty Jones, Edith Kellermann, Ann Dickson, Brooke Davila, Jo Ann Rochow, Vicki Coxe, and Jane Brooks. Again St. Alary’s girls will be found at various parties here at State. Becky Elmore, Anne De La Vergne, Alartha Pat Bell, Betsy Crutchfieldi, Rowena Brinser, Val Hodgson, Cynthia Nixon, Alartha Van Noppen, Fan Wilson, and Alary Ann Carter are just a few. Congratulations to Betsy Hig gins Alanning on the birth of a daughter on September 22. The summer was certainly made happier for Alary Ann Carter when she received a pin, and already she is excitedly making plans for her wedding August 4! Our special congratulations to Betty Jones who just last weekend was pinned by an SAE at Caro lina. Have fun and remember .that I— the “Watchbird”—will be watch ing you this weekend too!
