Ten new teachers have been
added to the St. Mary’s faculty
this year. , • •
Mrs. Kevin Jones, who is in the
Eimlish department, acquired
both her A.H. and M.A. degrees
at the University of Michigan.
She formerly taught at the Uni
versities of Michigan and Kansas.
She enjoys the all-girl classes at
St Marv’s because they are more
business-like and the girls seem
more relaxed. . , .
Her outside interests include
reading, sailing, and tennis^

her four sons, she has acquired a
taste for folk and popular music.
Mrs David Kesterson, another
new teacher in the English de
partment, attended both Hendrix
College where she earned hei

kansas where she earned her
MA. in English. She has taught

Another new teacher in the
Spanish department is Miss Mar
ion Anderson. She did her under-

ate work at iiliddleburg and in
Mexico City. Before coming to St.
Mary’s, she taught at St. An
drew’s Presbyterian College.
Her hobby is recording chil
dren’s poetry. She does this for
personal friends and relatives.
Mr. A. R. Lawrence is the new
addition to St. Mary’s Math De
partment. He served in the Air
Force for 23 years and then fin
ished his undergraduate work at
Michigan State where he received
his Bachelor of Science. He later
earned his M.A.T. degree at Duke.
His favorite interest is antique
automobiles. He said that St.
Mary’s will see some strange
looking ears this year.
Miss Margaret Duncan is the
new instructor in physical educa
tion as well as adviser to the Sea
Saints. She received her A.B. at
Duke and M.E.D. at Woman’s
College and UNC. At the Univer
sity of Michigan, she did her
graduate work towards the Ph.D.
She previously taught at UNC-G,
University of Michigan, and West-
hampton College.

STUDENTS
ATTEND TEA
On Friday evening, September
15 the annual Faculty Tea was
held in Smedes Parlor. Old girls
and their little sisters passed
through the receiving line, ex
changing greetings with Dr. and
Mrs. Stone, Miss Richardson, Bev
erly Randolph, Sfiiior Class presi
dent, Mary Holden Harrell, presi
dent of SGA, and Reverend and
Mrs. Baird.
The gathering gave all the girls
a chance to meet with old friends
and new teachers before settling
doTvn with their stacks of newly
purchased books.
The event proved to be the
height of Orientation AVeek and
rejuvenated the true St. Mary’s
spirit.

SENIORS ELECT
OFFICERS FOR
’67-’68
The new officers for the Senior
class were announced on Septem
ber 27th after a rini-off election.
These officers are: Arabella Nash
of Tarboro, Vice President, whose
duties include assisting President
Beverly Randolph, who was elect
ed last year; Laura AValter of
Birmingham, Alabama, Secretar}-,
who Avill post the page lists; Ga.vle
Sellers of Annistan, Alabama,
Treasurer, who is in charge of all
the class funds; and Hutton Kent
of Greensboro, Dance Marshall,
who will be in charge of the
Senior Banquet.
It will be the responsibility of
these officers to lead the Senior
Class in the many projects they
will undertake this year, and to
the successful completion of the
year in graduation on May 27,
1968.
