PLANS MADE FOR NEW
SOCIAL COURT
This year a review of the dis
ciplinary bodies of St. Mary’s was
made. One result of this review
was the formation of a Social
Board, which will encompass the
functions of the Minor Offense
and Disciplinaiy Committees.
The Social Board is composed of
a chairman, a secretary, two fac
ulty members appointed by the
President of the College, the Presi
dent and/or Vice-President of
SGA, President of the Daj^ Stu
dents, and one representative
from each class, to be elected by
each class in the fall.
The specific duty of the Social
Board is to deal with any case in
volving the use of alcoholic bev
erages on campus, leaving and re
maining off campus without per
mission, and any conduct reflect
ing seriously upon the student or
college. The Board also reviews
any case referred to it by the
Honor Board. The Social Board
has the power to campus, strict
campus, suspend, and refer cases
to the Honor Board.
In the framework of the Social
Board exists a Court of Appeals
which is composed of the Secre
tary of Social Board as chairman
and the junior and senior class
representatives of the Social
Board. This bod.y will deal with
excessive lateness and with the
appeals of those people who have
been campused.
