BODY, SOCIAL BOARD, AND HONOR BOARD MEMBERS The new members of the Legis lative Body, Social Board, and Honor Board were announced Monday, Oc tober 26. Seniors To Sell UNICEF Christmas Cards The Senior Class will be selling UNICEF Christmas cards and cal endars as its fall project. The cards and calendars have been ordered and should arrive before the third week in Noi’ember. When the materials L fhere will be three or four arrive there r^„,ac nnd days of intense selling. Cards and Sendars may be bought after this peris but sales will not continue into exams. The Christmas cards, which are a box, are designed by fo^^Yeach The calendars, which are each are illustrated with the art work of foreign children. The money re^ of $1000 »I1 the Da. Students «.u ° 1 id in selling the cards and Trish Potter. Julie Parker, Caren Threshie, Zeke Kannon, and Penny Gilliam are the representatives to the Legislative Body. Julie, a freshman from Wood land, also serves on the Orientation, Catalogue, and Hospitality Commit tees. Caren will represent the mem bers of the Sophomore Class. Her hometown is Rochester, Massachu setts. She has been active in dra matics, YWCA, and on the MUSE staff since she has been at St. Mary’s. Junior Zeke Kannon is from Zebulon. She is also a Mu cheerlead er. Penny Gillam, also a junior, is from Windsor. She is a member of the Development Committee and the Sigma-Mu team. Jane Howell is the Social Board member for the Freshman Class. She is from Williamston. Sophomore Ro berta Blue is from Goldsboro. Last year, she was active in the YWGA and is now serving as its president. Betsy Ingram of Taylorsville repre sents the Junior Class. She is also a Sigma cheerleader. New Honor Board members are Sophomore Betsy Brooks and Juniors Anne Justice and Anne Freeman. Betsy is a Sea Saint and a member of the Beacon. She is from Court- land, Va. Anne Justice, from Che- raw, S. C., serves on the typing and news staff of The Belles. Anne Free man’s hometown is Williston. Sophomore Officers are Janet Burhoe, Margie Worthington, Betsy Brooks, Amy Durham, Lind Coppage, Roberta Blue, and Nell Eatman. ST. MARTS PLANS EDUCATION IN DEPTH DRUG PROGRAM St. Mary’s is beginning an educa tional drug abuse program. Included will be speakers, films, and group discussions all sponsored by the Guidance Department. So far in the program, a film, CBS- News Reports with Mike Wallace on Marijuana, has been shown and two speakers have come to assemblies. Mr. Charles Dunn, Director of the State Bureau of Investigation, dis cussed the misuse of drugs and an swered questions. The Director of the Raleigh Police Department’s Vice-Squad, Ft. Ed Randolph, brought a drug exhibit and explain ed the characteristics of different drugs. Various film strips are to be shown on November 3, 5, 10, 12, and 17 in assemblies. They are entitled: Mari juana: What Can You Believe?; Sedatives; Stimulants; Narcotics; Psy chedelics; and LSD; The Acid World. Each night after the films. group discussions will be held with Mrs. Dosher, guidance director. A Senior in the School of Phar macy at Carolina, Jesse Pike, will be on campus November 16. With him will be five other pharmacy students who will hold discussions every hour from 8:30 AM until after dinner. They will talk about tbe drug prob lem and answer any questions that people may have. These' students have been trained and have a great deal of knowledge about drugs. St. Mary’s students should sign up with Mrs. Dosher to attend these discus sions, which will be held in Room 25 of the library. INSIDE . .
