OUJi NEW ENTERPRISE. We have been greatly pleased to announce from time to time the continued and steady de velopment of our Sunday School. This month we are able to announce the greatest stride forward the school has yet made. We have purchased from Mr. E. W. Watkins, our old church building, and will move it to the present church lot, where' it will be converted into a Sunday School building, with the mod ern conveniences and appliances. That the oi.D BUILDING comes again into the hands and service of the church will be welcome news to the older members. Within its walls have been the marriages and funerals of twenty-five years, and the labors and tears of the infant church struggling in the way of the Lord. A thousand hallowed associations and sacred memories have endeared it to the hearts of many of our brethren and sisters. We sympa thize with this affection for the place, where the Lord has come so often in his beauty and might, and rejoice that even their children’s children may receive the precious truths of the Gospel, from faithful teachers in that same place. The building will be added to and otherwise greatly improved. It will have a new front, and be provided with at least four or five well-ar ranged class-rooms. Both the audience cham ber and cla.ss-rooms will be thoroughly furnished with special reference to the needs of the Sun day School work. If our brethren should happen to be called upon to render some aid to this enterprise, we trust they will not suffer the call to cloud their memories of the past, to chill the warmth of their present affections or to dispel their hopes of the future. WHO ARE WITH US ? People, generally, do not care to take an in terest in any church enterprise, that has not the countenance and support of the leading mem bers of the church it^lf. This is entirely natu ral, and as true of Sunday Schools as any other department of Christian labor. We ap preciate this fact so fully that we deem it worth our while to mention that the members of the Baptist Church in Henderson recognize the value of their Sunday School work. Every official member of the church, but one,—Dea con Phipps, who resides some distance in the country—is deeply interested and active in this work. And we trust that our dear Brother Phipps will, notwithstanding his inconvenient location, soon find himself able to share our la bors. Our brethren, Dean, Thrower, I>assiter, Missillier and Harper are efficient officers of the church and regular in their attendance upon the Sunday School. All are doing good work for the school and are wise and valued counsellors of the Superintendents. In addition to these we are benefited and strengthened by the ex perience and counsels of the former Superinten dents, Brethren Horner, Haqier, and Dean. We have sfioken only of those who are or have been office bearers, but they are not alone, nearly every active male member of the church is with us, and of noble women not a few. Thus the Lord is drawing His people into his service. Yet there is a lack of laborers, yet there are souls professing to be saved by the blood of Christ resting in idleness, while many —"That God is calling upward Spin on blindly in the dark.’’ Again we entreat those brethren who are not yet laboring with us, to come with us now. The Lord has given us a great work to do. Let’s all unite in doing it well. We need the fellowship of labor for the development of the Christian graces. Come to the help of the Lord against the mighty. Come now. The fourth quarter must show a , better re cord than any other portion of this year. We cannot afford to move backward. Let every-1 Quarterly Review on Sept. 26th, one begin right now and do his best. Come j reading carefully all the lessons gone over next Sunday sure. | during the quarter.
