WTard, of Dornaha, who has been visiting her children of this place, leaves for her home today, ac companied by Mrs. Nannie Ward and Thomas IJart. J’he little year old child of Mr. and Mrs. W. J. Bumgarner, died last week. The funeral exercises were conducted by Eev'. J. B. Tabor at Union Arbor church last Thursday. Mr. 0. S. Johnson, of Goldston, is visiting at the home of Mr. E. L. Hart. Mrs.. W. F\ Trogden returned to her home in Greensboro Monday. Miss Ellen Whittington, of Whit tington, who has been visiting her .sister, Mrs, Sam Ward, returned Rev. W. E. Bradshaw returned from Wilmington last Friday. Dr. L. A. Hauser returned last Friday from Winston. Mr. W, P. Budd, of Durham, N. C., came to the city' one day last week. He is buying old scrap iron, copper, brass, rubber, etc. Mr J. W. Church, of Summit, gave us a pleasant call Friday of last week. He said some of the Summit people are going to Thomasville on the excursion the 8th of July. We have been informed that Chil dren’s Dsty Exercises at Liberty Grove church Sunday were quite a success. The sermon by Eev. J. P. Gwaltney was good. Prof. S. J. Hunnycutt, of Mars Hill, who came up Monday of last week in the interest of the Blue Ridge Institute, having been elected Principal; but was called away on Tuesday of same week by the illness of his father, returned Monday. He will,no doubt, if properly assisted by the patrons, succeed in conducting a prosperous school here. All who can should go to T homas- ville on the Excursion the 8th of July. It has been arranged for the benefit of those who want to visit the Orphanage, and also for the special benefit of the Orphanage.
