Practice Limited to Ghronic Disease. Having made disease of a chronic nature and disease of women, for the past five years, a special stinly and having givien considerable time and attention to the treatment of this class of Maladies, and the success and gnatitude of my many patients has led me to the conclusion that 1 will, , in the future, de.-oce my time almost exclusively to the treatmsnt of Chionic disease, using drugs as indicated, giving as I do preference to Ifassage and Electricity without which I am inclined to believe that the lesult will be, as a general thing, a failure. I know some Physicians are piejndiced against this mode of treatment, but on what grounds I can not understand, for 1 know [ have seen great benefit follow as a result of Massage and Electricity, piroperly applied, and so long as I see good results follow their administration. I will contin ue their use. 1 have Patients now at my Residence under treatment that have been Invalids for v’ears, that with Medicine alone I could not . have reached their case, that are improving nicely. And nearly every week some Patient is leaving my place greatly benefited that had tried aiinost every thing within reach. Partie.s desiring to consult me with re gard to their troubles can do so by letter, or better visit my office on Sat- iird.iy.s or 1st Mondays. I am not a cure all, neither do I guarantee to , cui’e any one, for this class cf disease is slow and stubborn to vield to rreatnient, however skillful it may be. I am willing to let my record speak for its:lf, through my many patients and abide by the result. Respectfully, J. 0. Testerman. M. D. Jefferson, N. I have been silent for quite a while, enjoying the good things the brethren have been writing; but now the time has come when I want to claim a small space in your wonder ful little paper. I noticed in an issue of recent date, where Bro. Crisp, of Benfield, claimed that I had brought charges against him thi'ough the (olniiinsof the Baptist concerning the healing powers of Carroll John son. 1 know it does seem like there has been enough said on this subject already, but as I have heretofore said, I do believe, according to the Nevv I'estainent, the Christian should be able to heal the sick by prayer through faith. Bro. Crisp refers me to the last chapter of Mark to prove that miracles did and should cease with the apostles. In the first place, what is a miracle? P’rom the best in- sign. Mark tells ns in the last chapter of his writing, “And these signs shall follow them that believe.” Not the _ apostles, but those that believe au I are b.iptized shall be able to cast out devils etc., and shall lay hands on the sick and they shall recover. Now I want to know if tins healing jjower was to cease with the apostles. Whv was it extended to those that believed through the preachings of the apos tles? And is it n it re.isouable to be lieve that those who came in posses sion of that power were able to ex tend that power to others? Is not God the same yesterday, today, and forever? and has be not the same power now that he had in the days of the apostles? I, for one, place a great amount of confidence in the ministers of today, and don’t think th.'V would pray for that which they thought would not be granted, and 1 never heaid one of them offer a prayer when there was a sick broth er or sister near but what they would ask in theii- prayer for the restoration of the sick one; and I have beard Bro. Crisp make some of the best prayers vvhile praying for the sick I ever heard him make, andJn one in stance I believe his prayers were answered. If Bro. Crisp wishes to know wiiy 1 am such a believer in prayer, read Janies 5:14, 15; Mat. 31:31; Luke 18:7.; Psalms 50:15-91:15; Jer. 33;:i; Bphe, 3:20, 1st John 5:14; John 14:13. And all through the Bible we are taught that if we ask with faiih we will receive. Christ said, “Ask- and it shall be given.” With best wishes to the-Baptist, R. M. P. Riverside, N. C.
