Remember, you have got John D. Rockefeller’s millions to fight; you’ve got the boot-licking pol- ititions to fight; you’ve got the pussy-footing, “middle of the- road,” boot-licking preachers who will talk about “Theistic Evo lution” to fight; but remember that you will have with you the real statesmen who will regard their oaths; and you will have the majority of the preachers who are true, and you will have with you the great body of the women who will not be rediculed, nor cajoled, nor followed into trampling on the Constitution and destroying the faith of our young people and eternally damn ing their souls. Last, arrange mass meetings or County or State campaigns for Anti-Evolution speakers. THE GREAT DEBATE. HOW TO HELP FIGHT EVOLUTION. The Conflict is safe in saying that in publishing “The Royal Conflict” which begins in this issue, we are giving our readers the greatest discussion ever given to the American peo ple. The Editor of The Conflict considers it the greatest proof ever given to the world that the Bible is God’s word. That kills Evolution with honest, clear-thinking people. -The debate is true to the title “The Royal Conflict.” It is gripping from the start. The Infidel, the Evolutionist, will read it Avith astonishment and be dumbfounded; the believer Avill read rejoicing and be strengthened; the young will read it with as much eagerness as the mature Bible scholar. It will settle the question of Evolution wherever it is read. It will run through each issue till Dec. 7th, and will then be issued in cheap book form. It will make a book of five hundred pages, and will sell for 85 cents in paper binding; 75 cents by the half dozen; 65 cents by the dozen; $1.25 in cloth. It should be scattered like the leaves of the forest. First, learn the facts; that accepting Evolution means giv ing up the Bible as God’s word; giving up the virgin Birth and Deity of the Savior; giving up His dying for our sins, redeem ing us from all iniquity; giving up the only standard of right and wrong; hence, opening up the flood gates of vice and sin. Second, get the facts, that the fulfilled prophecies prove that the Bible is a revelation from God; that it proves Evolution to be false; that Noah’s deluge accounts for the facts that Evolu tion rests on; that the E\mlutionists claim that all scientists accept Evoultion; whereas, about eleven hundred of the great est scientists rejected it, that they claim that it is now a demon strated science, wherers over forty great scholars assert that it is no science at all. ' • Third,' get the facts as to its destroying the faith of college students; fifteen per cent the firsU year; thirty per cent the second year; forty-five per cent the third year; that among scientists it has destroyed the faith of sixty-five per cent of the professors of Physics; of seventy-seven per cent of the profes sors of History; of eighty per cent of the professors of Biology of eighty-three per cent of the professors of Sociology; eighty- six per cent of the professors of Psychology. Fourth, get the facts that it has captured our entire tax- supported school system, and that it is taught in all grades, from primary to university; that for it to be taught in any tax-sup ported school is a violation of the Constitution of the United States which guarantees Religious Liberty, because by compel- sory education fathers and mothers are cpmpelled to send their children to school; then they are compelled to pay the taxes, and that money is used to pay the teachers to teach those children that the Bible is a tissue of lies and that the Savior in endors ing the Old Testament as the word of God if it is a tissue of lies proves that He Avas not God’s Son, and if He was not, then we have no Savior at all, we are left in our sins; that to thus compel parents to thus have the faith'of their children in the Bible and in the Savior underminded and destroyed it a viola tion of the Constitution Which guarantees Religious Liberty. Fifth, when you have gotten these facts clearly in mind; then buy what books you can that expose Evolution; you can get them in prices from $3.50 down to ten cents. Read them carefully; then write on the fly leaf or on the outside cover, ^‘Read carefully and return to”—giving name, and get your neighbors to read them; with an urgent request to join the fight when convinced. Sixth, subscribe for The Conflict and read it carefully; lend your copies to neighbors, pointing out certain special arti cles to read; keep the paper going. Seventh, get every one you can to subscribe for the paper and to buj' the books exposing Evolution. Urge them to lend these papers and books and get them read. Eighth, show them that every issue of the paper, under T. N. T„ Grape Shot and Canister for Evolution professors, preachers and politicians,” The Conflict will have articles that will help guard their children from the Evolution taught in the schools. PRESIDENT COOLIDGE, EX-PREST. W. H. TAFT, NOW CHIEF JUSTICE, HON. WILLIAM E. BORAH, UNITED STATES SENATOR FROM IDAHO, HON. LOUIS MARSHALL OF NEW YORK, GEO. GIFFORD PINCHOT OF PENN SYLVANIA, HON. CARTER GLASS, UNITED STATES SENATOR FROM VIRGINIA AND OTHERS, AND EVOLUTION IN TAX-SUPPORTED SCHOOLS. Beginning in March the Editor of The Conflict Avill begin a series of articles on the teachings of the above noted Staets- men, and others as applied to Evolution in our tax-supported schools. The people are going to see that the question of Religious Liberty Vf thf Constitution of the.United States ia at §tak,e. And when they see, they wall act. It is not a question of deciding science by law; it is not a question of suppressing the teaching of Evolution by law. Let the endowed schools teach it, if they wish; let schools be built all over the land to teach it, but be built by those who believe in it and desire it taught. But when you compel people to send their children to school compel them to pay their taxes and take that money to pay teachers to teach Evolution to those children and destroy their faith in God’s word and in the Savior, you are violating Religi ous Liberty and trampling the Constitution of the United States in the dust. Teaching Evolution in any tax-supported school, from pri mary through university is a violation of Religious Liberty, of the Constitution, and the people must be brought to see this, and when they see they will act. And they will see it form the teaching of these great States men. If only the issues of The Conflict carrying the articles show ing the teachings of these great Statesmen, could be read by every American citizen! Let every reader help get these articles to the people. It' our interpretations of Genesis so as to adjust them to the the ories of Darwin and Huxley. Neither of these men would so imuch as affirm the existence of God nor even that there was an intelligent purpose in nature, As to Moses, a process of criti cism has been going on which denies his authorship of the Pentateuch; as to Darwin and Huxley, a practice of praise is taking place which exalts them to positions of great teachers of divine truth. In fact they were agnostics as were their contem poraries, Spencer and Tyndall. Darwin had the greatest brain of the four. Though not the most logical, he was the most reverent. In the closing chapter of his “Origin of Species” he refers to the Creator and he did contribute to Foreign Mis sions. But after giving him all the credit he so richly deserves it is a lamentable fact that his theories and pursuits landed him in agnosticism. Why do ministers eulogize the agnostics instead of the founders of mod ern science—Bacon, Kepler, Galileo, Haarvey and Newton who accepted the unity, order and progression of Genesis; who believed there was “mind,” “thought,” “Almighty power,” “design,” “intelligence” and “an intelligent Agent” in nature? “Be it remembered that the Christian is a lover of truth. He welcomes it from whatever source it comes. His attitude is that of cordiality. He has nothing to fear from truth. His concern is to know, “what is truth.” He asks that question with more seriousness, with a deeper sense of personal respon- sibilitv,, wit]-; a finer jovalty tq its answer than did Pilate in the judgment hall long ago. “The Christian holds that God revealed truth in the Bible. It is the Christian’s text book in morals and religion. By its precepts he is bidden to live and in the comfort of its promises he hopes to die. The Bible is the Christian’s chart compass on the sea of life. Without it he is driven and tossed by winds of false doctrine. “But it is insistently averred: The Bible is not a text book on science.’ We agree that it is not; .its main purpose is spirit ual. Scientific facts are men tioned in popular language and only in their religious bearing. However, when the assertion is made that the Bible is erroneous in its statements, we must de mur. It is singularly guarded from such mistakes as Plato’s idea that the earth was an intel ligent being; as the thought of the Ancient Sages that the Milky Way was a path showing the footsteps of the Sun, or a band of solid substance joining the two parts of the globe; as the old notions that brutes are hu man beings in changed shapes and that there are fish in the sea with horses’ heads. Its scientific parallelism is in strik ing contrast with the nebulous, vague and contradictory utter ances of the so-called Babylon iian Creation Tablets where one I makes the beast the first crea- jtion and another puts man as Yhe beginning; or, with the I Hindu idea that the world is a I flat triangular plane, resting on I the Leads of elephants whose feet rest on the shell of an im- I mense tortoise and the tortoise ■ on the coll of a great snake; and i when these elephants shake (Continued on page nine)
