Ben Greet Players
On January 17, at 8:00 o’clock,
Henry Joyner and Daisy Vivian
presented a duologue of Hamlet
by William Shakespeare. Only the
dramatic scenes were actually
given. By using a narrator and
the audience’s imagination, the
connection was made clear. Mr.
Joyner and Miss Vivian have ap
peared at Mars Hill several times.
Known as the Ben Greet players,
she and her husband, Mr. Joyner,
are carrying on the traditional
plays of the company which once
had over three hundred players,
including a symphony orchestra.

There have been unusual hap
penings around “these hyar parts’’
this week — those very unnecess
ary exams. Abie Norman, that
young man about the campus, said
he overheard a conversation among
some teachers, and this is the
reason that exams were given:
“The gizmo on the ditty hoppen
valv§ is not working.’’
Well they are over. Some passed
and some failed. Forget about the
alarm clock that didn’t go off or
the ones you didn’t hear. Look on
the bright side of things. Just
look at me. Don’t I look cheerful?
(Had to borrow a couple of ropes
and pulleys to hold the comers
of my mouth up!)
Just think of all the fun you’ll
have this summer— going to sum
mer school or maybe you’ll be
coming back for a fall semester
here at our alma mater.
Are your fingers still cramped
from writing so much on your
exams? Or are you like me, not
tired at all because you didn’t
know enough to wear off the point
of a pencil?
Seriously, though. I’ll bet you
didn’t do half as badly as you
thought you did. Just forget them
—look forward to those coming
up in May!!!

Dramateers Give Party
On Wednesday evening, January
14, the Dramateers gave a party
in Huffman game room as a fare
well gesture to those Oil’s of this
group who will be leaving this
semester, Blake Floyd and Eddie
McElrath. Eddie had as his guest
Miss June Curl.
The dramatic abilities of this
group were displayed as all, even
Miss Starnes, assumed roles of
carefree children and forgot all
about forthcoming exams.
Refreshments of hamburgers,
do-nuts, and coffee were served,
and the meeting adjourned.

And The Snow Came Tumbling Down
By Virginia Burgess
Snow! What a thrilling sight!
What an utterly gorgeous sight!
Yes, we lads and lasses from the
deep, deep South—namely Florida
—have witnessed the eighth wond
er of the world. After many weeks
of anxiously scanning the sky and
of asking thousands of times, “Do
you think it will snow tonight?”
we were finally rewarded. Many
of us were on our way back to
“The Hill” after Christmas holi
days when we first saw snow.
Several girls were in the train
station at Asheville when it sud
denly began ‘pouring snow.’ When
they ran out and began trying to
grab each tiny flake, the crowd
exclaimed, “iPoor girls, this trip
has been too much for them. Per
haps We should see them safely on
the next train to Morganton (for
a verification of this statement see
Betty Priest or Betty Mayhugh).”
John Lambert’s overwhelming ex
citement was issued forth in each
snowball he threw; however, he
“topped it all” by sliding down
Melrose hill on a tumed-over
chair!
If you see us slipping along
grabbing for anything in sight or
sliding (elsewhere than on our
feet) down the Science Building
Hill, have pity and remember we
are not yet acquainted with the
ways and wiles of this winter
wonderland!
