■ Page Two, THE HILLTOP, January 22,1982- Dr. Ihrig Gets Book Published WHcit Do Dr. Mary Ihrig, professor of English at Mars Hill, has authored a new book enti tled Emerson’s Transcendental Vocabulary: A Concordance which is being pub lished by Garland Publishing Company of New York City. The new book provides access to nine fundamental terms in transcendental thinking in the seven volumes of the Centenary Edition of the Complete Works of Ralph Waldo Emerson. Dr. Ihrig, a native of Hannibal, Missouri, earned her undergraduate degree from Shurtleff College in Alton, 111. She has a master’s degree from Washington Universi ty in St. Louis, Mo., a divinity degree from Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary, and a Ph.D. from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. She has been a member of Mars Hill’s faculty since 1960 and is a member of several curriculum committees. A well-known musician in addition to her other talents, she has been church organist for several churches in the area including the Mars Hill Baptist Church. In 1972 she was named in the “Outstanding Educators of America’’ volume.
